Creating a Fall Card with a Slightly Different Color Theme

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a  Fall Card with a Slightly Different Color Theme.  Yes there's tons of cards and projects out there with traditional Fall colors, the bright warm reds, the crisp oranges, and the golden yellows, but there are more colors out there that can be "Fall" colors.  I created this card with Purple Posy, Grapefruit Grove, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White.  These colors are just tones of the richer deeper colors, there are still present in the traditional Fall colors schemes, but just slightly different.  You can actually find all these colors now in a types of different decor, cloths, and so much more.  Here's a look at my card. Well, actually I am going to share the simple version of the card first then I will share the stepped up version.

Now here's the slightly stepped up version.  I didn't go over the top with the additional elements but just enough to add to the overall look.
I had designed the original card for a friends team meeting that I went to last week.  She has people volunteer to bring food or do a project, and I had volunteered to do one of the projects for this month.  And I came up with the simplified version  So after doing it I knew I wanted to step it up a little.  So, then I did the stepped up version of the card and I am not sure which one I like the best.

Tips & Tricks:

The first thing that I did was to prep my cardstock for the embossing.  I did this with my embossing buddy to remove any oils from my cardstock.  I knew that the heat embossing was going to be a big part of this card so there could be no stray powder anywhere.  I then stamped my images on whisper white cardstock and one a scrap of Grapefruit Grove Cardstock with Versamark ink and covered them with my Gold Stampin' Embossing Powder.  Next I heat set the images and I colored the flowers in with my Stampin' Write Markers (Purple Posy, Soft Sea Foam, Smoky Slate, and Grapefruit Grove).  I took a sponge and on the Milk can I added a little sponging of Grapefruit Grove ink to the cardstock.  Then I fussy cut them both out.
I ran my piece of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock through my die cutting machine with the Tin Tile 3d Embossing Folder and attached it to a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock.  On my Purple Posy card base I stamped the little tile image from the Country Home stamp set in Smoky Slate ink going down the side of where I plan on putting the smoky slate and soft sea foam pieces.  I did two rows of stamping.  Once I had everything stamped I added the two pieces of cardstock.  I then attached two pieces of the Purple Posy Scalloped Edge Ribbon with two small pieces of Tear & Tape to the front.  Next I punched out a label from Whisper White Cardstock using the Pretty Label Punch and attached it with a couple dimensionals.  Next I attached the flowers to the milk can using multipurpose liquid glue and a few dimensionals.  My dimensionals where added where the flowers meet the mild can for added support and to the flowers.  I attached the milk can to the label with a little liquid glue.  This way the label and the focal element was the same height on the card.
I finished off the card by adding the sentiment stamped on a piece of whisper white in Smoky Slate ink and trimmed it out using my paper snips.  I then attached it to the front of the milk can with a little adhesive.  I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the front to finish the card.  Here's a look at both of the cards side by side.

So no matter which way you create this card you can get a very pretty card to send out to people. Below you will find the Video tutorial for this card.  If you have problems viewing this video in your email you can click here or on the above picture to go to the video.  Sometimes the embedded video will not show in some emails.

Gather Together Fall Harvest Card: 12 Days of Fall

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a super easy card that's part of my 12 days of Fall series.  In this little series I am celebrating the wondrous colorful season of Fall.  In today's card I am using the beautiful Gather Together Stamp Set from the 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  In this card I am using one of the stamps that has been very under used.  My card today features the wheat stamp from this fun Fall stamp set.  Here's a look at my card.

This is such a super simple card that it could be mass produced in no time.  I used a piece of Early Espresso cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2.  I used a piece of the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper and matted it with a piece of Cajun Craze.  I stamped the wheat in Early Espresso on a small piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and matted it in Cajun Craze also.
I popped the small image up using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I then stamped the greeting on one of the Tags & Feathers Wood Elements in Pretty Peacock.  I also popped it up on a couple dimensionals.  I simple finished off the card by adding a little Cajun Craze Linen bow to the wood element using a mini glue dot.  I got the linen thread from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack.  The ribbon combo pack features the Cajun Craze Linen Thread and a Linen striped edge ribbon.  Both are wonderful choices to embellish your Fall cards.

CASE the Catalog: Taking Inspiration from A Card in the Holiday Catalog

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you the card I made CASEing the Brightly Gleaming Note Card on page 30 of the 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  If you have never heard the term CASE before it means Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Selectively Edit.  The Stampin' Up! catalogs are filled with inspiration and tons of ideas; that are great CASEing material.  When you CASE a card you don't have to copy it exactly, you can simply take inspiration from it.  That's what I did today, I took inspiration from the sketch or design of the card and the use of the metallic elements.  Here's a look at my card and then I will share with you the card that inspired it.

Here's my the card that I drew my inspiration from.  This little Christmas note card features the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set and Night of Navy, Very Vanilla and Mossy Meadow cardstock along with some copper foil sheets, and the Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper.  It also features one of the new Stars Designer Elements, one of the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements, and a copper embossed holly leaf and berries as the main focal image.

For my card today I used the sketch from the card, but instead of designer series paper I used the Subtles 3d embossing folder to create texture on the card.  My card  base is a piece of Thick Whisper White cut at 5 x 7 scored at 3 1/2.  The embossed piece of cardstock was cut at 3 x 5 1/2.
I kept with the metallic theme of the card but instead of copper I went with silver. I love the look of silver with just about any other color.  But this time I paired it with Whisper White, and Smoky Slate.  After embossing the 3 x 5 1/2 piece of whisper white I took some Delicata Shimmery Silver ink and a sponge dauber and created a little metallic color on the textured whisper white.  I started out going around in a circle and then came back and change direction to blend out any lines.  I will say that the Delicata ink is a little warming in tone than the other silver pieces on my card.

I then added a 1/2" strip of silver foil behind the textured piece and attached the embossed piece to my card base.  Next I stamped the wreath from Seasonal Wreaths Stamp Set in Delicata silver ink and then coated it with silver embossing powder and heat set it.  I used the matching dies and cut it out.  I repeated this process with the large leaf in the same way but on a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock.  I also embossed and cut out one of the small leaf dies in silver foil.  Then the debate came do I color in the wreath with a little watercolor or do I leave it simple and let everything work together.   I went with the keep it nice and simple and elegant looking.

Once everything was cut out with their matching die it was time to start laying everything out.  So I decided on the placement and keep it just like the sketch.  Large element in the upper third of the card and the other elements coming off it toward the fold.  I attached the silver embossed Fall wreath with a little multipurpose liquid glue.  I then took the silver thread and wrapped it around my fingers a few times to make a nest of loops that I would adhere to the card.  If you notice back up in the reference photo the concept artist used linen thread for the loops.  I attached my loops with a little snail placed where the large leave would go. I attached the loops into the snail making sure to get the open ends in the adhesive.  I then added the large silver embossed leaf on three dimensionals over the loops.  But, the dimensionals not only act as a new level for the leaves but it helps to secure the loops in place as well.
To finish off my little elegant note card I added the silver foil embossed leaf to the larger leaf with a dimensional and added a silver heat embossed sentiment on a little whisper white cardstock.  I also decided to pop that up as well with a few dimensionals.  I went with a sentiment that reads Happy Everything from Seasonal Wreath Stamp Set.  I thought it was a perfect sentiment because you could use it for so many different occasions.  It could go for a wedding or well anything really.
That finished off my card I hope that you like my version of the Brightly Gleaming note card from the Holiday Catalog and I hope that you got a few little tips on how to use your catalogs for inspiration.  Your catalogs are so much more then just a book of products but is filled with tons and tons of inspiration that you can use to create your projects.
