Season of Smiles & Love

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you this sweet little card for my 12 Days of Fall mini series.  The card that I created today features the Gather Together Stamp Set from the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  This is the accentual Fall stamp set and is part of the Come to Gather Suite, which is geared all around Fall.  I just love Fall; all two days of it when we get one in Alabama.  The title of this post came from the beautiful sentiment that is part of this stamp set that reads "May this season bring your smiles and love that will last all year" I just think that this is just the most beautiful sentiment, and I think it would be perfect for a Christmas Card as well.  Here's a look at my card.

My card base is a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2.  After cutting the card base I ran it through my die cutting and embossing machine with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder.  This added such wonderful texture to the card.  This embossing folder is one of the most striking ones we have had in awhile and just FYI it's extremely popular.  So much so that it was one of the first things to go on back order the first week the Holiday catalog went live.  And looking at the impression it makes I am not surprised at all.  Next I cut a piece of the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper to 2 1/2 x 5 1/2 and a mat from Crushed Curry Cardstock that was cut 2 3/4 x 5 1/2 and layered both of them on the right-hand side of my card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Any time you have an embossed area you have to have a strong glue to adhere them together.  I prefer the liquid glue because it gets in all those little craves on the embossed piece.
Next I did my stamping; and I stamped the large leaf image from the stamp set in Cajun Craze and used the matching die to cut it out.  While I was cutting the large leaf out I threw on some scraps of Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze Cardstock and cut out a few of the smaller leaves as well.  The small leaves dies not only cut the leaves out but they emboss the vines of the leaves as well.  Which by the way are very very striking.
At this point I stamped the three pumpkins from the stamp set in Cajun Craze ink and the sentiment (which I mentioned above) and ran it through the die cutting machine with a large stitched oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies.
At this point it was time to start putting everything together.  So I started out with my sentiment and placed it where I wanted it and attached it with a few Stampin' Dimensionals.  Then I started arranging my leaves around it.  Once I had the arrangement I wanted nailed down I snapped a photo of it with my phone so that I could remember where everything goes.  Yes, I am that person that would forget in just that short amount of time where things where going.
After the  quick little photo shoot I started attaching the leaves.  Some where attached with Multipurpose liquid glue and some was attached with dimensionals and some with both.  For example the Crushed Curry leaf coming off the sentiment it was attached with a little liquid glue where it hits the sentiment and a dimensional under where it came off so that it would be the same height.  Same thing with the little Cajun Craze leaf.  The large leaf is just attached with liquid glue.  I bet the stem of the leaf up over the sentiment and tucked the other part of the leaf under.
That finished my card for today, I hope that you have enjoyed this little series of Fall themed projects over the last few weeks.  I will see you tomorrow with another project and a video tutorial.  See you soon.

CASE the Catalog: Taking Inspiration from A Card in the Holiday Catalog

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you the card I made CASEing the Brightly Gleaming Note Card on page 30 of the 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  If you have never heard the term CASE before it means Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Selectively Edit.  The Stampin' Up! catalogs are filled with inspiration and tons of ideas; that are great CASEing material.  When you CASE a card you don't have to copy it exactly, you can simply take inspiration from it.  That's what I did today, I took inspiration from the sketch or design of the card and the use of the metallic elements.  Here's a look at my card and then I will share with you the card that inspired it.

Here's my the card that I drew my inspiration from.  This little Christmas note card features the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set and Night of Navy, Very Vanilla and Mossy Meadow cardstock along with some copper foil sheets, and the Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper.  It also features one of the new Stars Designer Elements, one of the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements, and a copper embossed holly leaf and berries as the main focal image.

For my card today I used the sketch from the card, but instead of designer series paper I used the Subtles 3d embossing folder to create texture on the card.  My card  base is a piece of Thick Whisper White cut at 5 x 7 scored at 3 1/2.  The embossed piece of cardstock was cut at 3 x 5 1/2.
I kept with the metallic theme of the card but instead of copper I went with silver. I love the look of silver with just about any other color.  But this time I paired it with Whisper White, and Smoky Slate.  After embossing the 3 x 5 1/2 piece of whisper white I took some Delicata Shimmery Silver ink and a sponge dauber and created a little metallic color on the textured whisper white.  I started out going around in a circle and then came back and change direction to blend out any lines.  I will say that the Delicata ink is a little warming in tone than the other silver pieces on my card.

I then added a 1/2" strip of silver foil behind the textured piece and attached the embossed piece to my card base.  Next I stamped the wreath from Seasonal Wreaths Stamp Set in Delicata silver ink and then coated it with silver embossing powder and heat set it.  I used the matching dies and cut it out.  I repeated this process with the large leaf in the same way but on a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock.  I also embossed and cut out one of the small leaf dies in silver foil.  Then the debate came do I color in the wreath with a little watercolor or do I leave it simple and let everything work together.   I went with the keep it nice and simple and elegant looking.

Once everything was cut out with their matching die it was time to start laying everything out.  So I decided on the placement and keep it just like the sketch.  Large element in the upper third of the card and the other elements coming off it toward the fold.  I attached the silver embossed Fall wreath with a little multipurpose liquid glue.  I then took the silver thread and wrapped it around my fingers a few times to make a nest of loops that I would adhere to the card.  If you notice back up in the reference photo the concept artist used linen thread for the loops.  I attached my loops with a little snail placed where the large leave would go. I attached the loops into the snail making sure to get the open ends in the adhesive.  I then added the large silver embossed leaf on three dimensionals over the loops.  But, the dimensionals not only act as a new level for the leaves but it helps to secure the loops in place as well.
To finish off my little elegant note card I added the silver foil embossed leaf to the larger leaf with a dimensional and added a silver heat embossed sentiment on a little whisper white cardstock.  I also decided to pop that up as well with a few dimensionals.  I went with a sentiment that reads Happy Everything from Seasonal Wreath Stamp Set.  I thought it was a perfect sentiment because you could use it for so many different occasions.  It could go for a wedding or well anything really.
That finished off my card I hope that you like my version of the Brightly Gleaming note card from the Holiday Catalog and I hope that you got a few little tips on how to use your catalogs for inspiration.  Your catalogs are so much more then just a book of products but is filled with tons and tons of inspiration that you can use to create your projects.

You Make My Head Flutter Wiggle Worm

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a super cute card with you today featuring the Wiggle Worm Stamp and Die Set.  This was another set that I when I saw it I liked it but wasn't sure if I would use it or not.  The more that I thumbed through my catalog and saw this set the more I decided that I needed it.  And, I am so glad that I did!  It was just such a cute set and this is the first card that I have made with it so far.  I created this super cute scene card to share with you today.

I started out by stamping all the little bugs in the set and their coordinating body extras in tuxedo black ink and then used my Stampin' Blends to color each one of them.  Once I had them colored I used the matching dies to cut them out.  Then I stamped the little ice cream and colored it; and thought that I could use those in the background as clouds as well.  I used a piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock cut at 4 x 5 1/4 and then stamped the ice cream in the sky to use as clouds.  I colored them in using my white watercolor pencil from Stampin' Up! so that I had just a little color in them.  And I thought that worked great.
I then used the grass and leaf dies from the matching die set and cut out leaves in Granny Apple Green and Garden Green cardstock.  The grass I cut out in Granny Apple Green Cardstock and some of the Gingham Designer Series Paper from the Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  I added the leaves and added the alternating color veins in each leaf.  That was no extra cutting since they cut out at the same time as when I ran them through.  I then added those to the card front.  I attached the sky card front to a piece of Whisper White (5 3/8 x 4 1/8) and then added each of the stamped and colored little bugs.
I did add a few dimensionals behind two of the grass layers so that I could add the bugs standing in the grasses.  This added a little more interest to the card.  I did heat emboss the sentiment in White Stampin' Emboss Powder.  This was an after thought and should have done this before I stuck everything down but it worked out just fine.  As I mentioned this was a super fun card and was so much fun to do.
If you have been on the fence with this set I am just going to say differently go ahead and pick it up it was so much fun to create such a fun whimsical card.  Plus it creates such a great Summer time projects.  You can pick up the stamp set and die set either separate or currently as a cost saving bundle in my online store.  You will find all the supplies that I used in the Shopping list below.
Thanks for dropping by today, and I hope that you have a great day.
