Toile Christmas Simple Saturday Stamping Card

Hello and welcome to my blog and this week's episode of Saturday Simple Stamping.  This week we are making a Thank you card using the Toile Christmas Stamp Set.  Even with the holidays approaching we still need things like Birthday, Thinking of you, and Thank you Cards.  So this is not the time of the year to stop making those types of cards, why not when you're using those Christmas and Holiday Stamps not make a few cards for these occasions as well.  That's just what I did with today's Simple Stamping Card.  Here's a look at today's project.

Tips & Tricks:

Most of you know that Simple Stamping was started last November by Stampin' Up! as a way to help crafters that are just getting started or have never stamped before to learn.  It's back to the basics with just stamps, ink, and paper, and maybe sometimes a punch or something else thrown in for fun.  I try to keep my versions of #simplestamping just at the basics.  I like to share cards that can be easily recreated by someone just starting out.
For this weeks card I started out with a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock cut in half at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2.  I stamped the cardinal from the Toile Christmas Stamp Set in Real Red ink on the front of the card.  And then added a scrap of the matching Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper I had left over from my Facebook Live project from Wednesday night.  I just attached that with a little snail adhesive and trimmed it to size afterwards.
For the sentiment I used a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock also left over from Wednesday nights Facebook Live, and stamped the thanks from one of my favorite sentiment sets Here's a Card in Garden Green ink.  I then used the Timeless Label Punch and punched it out.  At this point it was looking a little plain so I added some of the small scrolls from the Toile Christmas Stamp Set to dress the punch out up just a little bit.  I added the label to my card with a couple stampin' dimensionals to finish it off.
To finish the presentation of my cards I always like to dress up the envelopes.  And with my simple stamping cards it's no different.  For this weeks envelope I just stamped the top half of the cardinal on the flap of the envelope in Real Red Ink.

Rick’s Saturday Simple Stamping Episode 32: A Simple Christmas Card Using the Holiday Catalogs Host Sets

Hello and welcome to my YouTube Channel and Blog: Today I am going to share with you the next Episode of Saturday Simple Stamping.  In this Episode  I am going to share with you a super quick and easy Christmas Card using the two new Host Stamp Sets from the 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  The stamp sets I am using are Holiday Haul and Greatest Part of Christmas.  Both of these again are host sets and must be earned with a qualifying order.  You will find a full list of the supplies I used in today's Simple Stamping Episode below.  Here's a look at my cards.

In each Episode of Saturday Simple Stamping I share with you a super easy card geared towards beginners.  These are easy recreatable cards using stamps ink and paper.  Every once in awhile I may throw in a designer series paper, punch, or other embellishment, but meanly I keep it to the basics just stamps ink and paper.  If you are a brand new crafter or stamper looking at getting into card making this is the series for you.  I have currently 32ish videos or episodes you can find here by searching simple stamping or #simplestamping in the search feature on my site.

This week I am featuring the two Holiday Catalog Host Stamp Sets Holiday Haul and Greatest Part of Christmas.  Each of these sets can only be earned with Stampin' Rewards.  Those are points earned for purchasing products in my online store read more about Stampin' Rewards.

The Holiday Haul Stamp Set allows you to combine the images to build a scene for any occasion.  I put my images on a slight slant for this card to have a little more visual interest without having to do a log of work.  I chose to use a different color ink for each image.  I wanted them to each have equal value and visual weight on the card.  So by having each in a different color it allowed me to let the images guide the viewer.  You will also notice that you see the same colors repeated at least three times on the card.  This is a visual element that helps to tie everything together and keeps the viewers eyes moving around the card and not leave the visual plane.  Now that I have gotten all technical with you lets just talk like real people shall we.  You can pair with your favorite greeting stamp set for even more versatility I paired it today with the Greatest Thing About Christmas stamp set.  The greatest part of Christmas is spreading cheer to everyone! No matter what sentiment you want to express for the season, you'll find it with the Greatest Part of Christmas Stamp Set. Pair with any image set for unlimited possibilities.

This is the first version of the card I created for today's episode.  I used a ruler and lightly drew off the lines with a pencil so that I would have a guide to keep my images straight and aligned.  I used a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11 for my card base and added the whisper white to the front of the card.  The Whisper white piece was cut at 4 x 5 1/4 a 1/4" smaller than the card base this allows for a nice equal border around the focal image.  I added the strip of the Wrapped in Plaid Speciality Designer Series Paper to add a little more visual interest with the fun plaid pattern in Shaded Spruce, Whisper White, and Gold foil accents.
I did the same thing with the card above but I didn't draw off the lines to follow.  I thought that I would be able to stamp the images freehand in a straight line.  And I was wrong!  If you look at the card above again you will notice some of the images go up slightly or down slightly from the visual straight line that I have on the original version.  But, that's okay I mean it's handmade after all and not Hallmark.  One of the fun things about creating a handmade card is the fact that you made it with love and it may have impressions and that's okay.  It doesn't matter that it's not perfect.  Yes, I know there are some of you out there that thinks otherwise but the small things like it being off slightly really doesn't bother me.  For me it's more about how the person feels when they get the card I've made, not if it's perfect or not.
I also stamped my envelope with the same images in a line going across the flap.  I almost only stamped the reindeer and the slay but decided it needed the other two images to match and to more visually appealing.  I think you should always dress your envelopes with something before you send them.  It helps to give the person receiving the card a little hint of what my be on the inside.  And with our Stampin' Up! products it helps add coordination to it as well, since all our inks, and papers all color coordinates perfectly.  That's one of the things that drew me to Stampin' Up! and becoming a demonstrator myself.  I hated searching for things at the big box stores that I thought my match only to get home to find out they were close but no cigar!

Rick's Saturday Simple Stamping Episode 29: Magnolia Blooms Birthday Card

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you share with you the latest Episode of Rick's Saturday Simple Stamping.  In this episode we are going to make a super quick and easy birthday card using one of the Stamp Sets from the Beginners Brochure.  You can download it if you haven't gotten to the right of this post under catalogs.  For those of you that haven't joined me for a Saturday Simple Stamping Card; these are all designed with the person that have never stamped before in mind or the person that is just starting out.  They are super easy projects that you can recreate without problems, only using a few supplies.  This week as I mentioned we are making a birthday card.  Here's a look at the card we are going to make and I will also share with you a version that is stepped up just a little bit also closer to the end of this post.

For the card today I used a piece of Petal Pink Cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 a smaller strip that was about 1 1/2" x 4 1/4, a piece of Whisper White Cardstock 4 x 5 1/4, and two ink pads Petal Pink and Tuxedo Memento Black.  I am using the Magnolia Blooms Stamp Set (#152729) for my card today.  This stamp set was designed to coordinate with the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set from the 2019 Annual Catalog.  It has some images that was made a little smaller from the stamp set but has some sentiments you can only get in this set.  It's also a photopolymer set meaning you can see right through it, unlike the Good Morning Magnolia set which is a cling set (red rubber).
I started off by taking the whisper white cardstock and stamping the larger magnolia image from the Magnolia Blooms stamp set around the card in Petal Pink ink.

Next I came in with the Magnolia Bloom from the set and stamped it around randomly.  I started filling in any open areas that I had on the cardstock.

After that I came in with the little leaf image and filled in all my open areas on the whisper white cardstock.  If you have followed my Simple Stamping Series you have seen me do this before.  What we are doing is creating our own designer series paper.

So once I had everything stamped the way I wanted it on the whisper white cardstock it was time to attach it to our card front.  So I folded and burnished the card base using my bone folder (an must have tool for any project; this allows you to get a nice clean crisp line).  Once this was done I added it to the card front with a little Snail Adhesive.
I then took the 1 1/2" strip of Petal Pink Cardstock and stamped the Happy Birthday Sentiment and made a diagonal edge to create a banner.  I attached that using Snail Adhesive also.  I placed it about in the bottom 3/4 of the card.

Step it Up Just a Little:

Now as I mentioned above I would share with you a slightly stepped up version of this card.  All I did to step it up a little this week was add the addition of a punch.  Yes, that's what I said.  And that one little addition changes the look of the card completely.
I could dress this up a little bit more with the addition of some matching ribbon and a few rhinestones and create an even bigger look.  I did a piece of whisper white to the inside of this version with the addition of some stamping going up the side.  You can kind of see that in the picture above.
Thanks for dropping by today, I have to run and get ready for an event that I am attending today.  See you tomorrow for the next project in my Color Inspiration Series.  You can find all the supplies listed below.
