Case the Catalog - God's Peace

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you another project in my CASE the Catalog bi-weekly series.  Today, I am sharing with you a card from the Holiday Catalog.  The card I am CASEing (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit) is on page 29 of the 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  I didn't have everything just like the card in the catalog but I came up with an alternative that works just as well.  Here's a look at my card.

Here's a look at the card from the catalog that inspired my card.

You can see a few differences in my card and the card in the catalog.  For example the major difference between my card and catalog card is the card in the catalog uses the Pine bough dies.  I don't have that bundle so I used the Frosted Frames dies instead.  I used the single die in the set to cut out the branches and leaves using Garden Green Cardstock.  I also have the torn edge but mine is just a little bit more than the card in the catalog.  I am thinking that the catalog card instead of having a torn edge has just a roughed up edge with snips, but I like the torn look.  You can see what I am talking about in the image below.
I have the same heat embossing as the catalog card, but I colored the image in from underneath instead of on top.  I wanted a little more a subtle coloring then what was in the catalog.  I love the candle and the poinsettia.  And wanted a little more attention on the gold embossing.  The sentiment was stamped in versamark ink and covered in white stampin' emboss powder before heat setting.
I stamped the words on the background whisper white piece before layering the vellum image over. I secured this with a little tear & tape.  I also ran my smoky slate ink pad along the torn edge to give a more pronounced edge.  I layered everything up on a Smoky Slate mat and then put it on my Cherry Cobbler Card base.  I hope that I have inspired you a little to try to CASE one of your favorite card designs from the Catalog.

Case the Catalog - Night Before Christmas Memory & More Card

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you another Case the Catalog project.  For today's project I am going to share with you; a card from the Holiday Catalog.  The card that I am going to share was CASEd from one of the projects on page 25.  The project that I am going to CASE today features the Night Before Christmas Memory and More Card pack and the Night Before Christmas Memories & More Card and Envelopes.  If this is your first time here welcome and if you are returning welcome back.  If you are new to my blog and crafting; you may not know what the term CASE means.  CASE is a term that card makers use to learn by copying a project.  CASE stands for Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit.  By doing this you can learn new skills or techniques.  Here's a look at my card.

Tips & Tricks:

I always love the Memory and More card packs and the matching cards and envelopes that we offer in our catalogs.  The holiday catalog has a lovely pack of Memory and More cards and matching Night Before Christmas Memory and More Cards and Envelopes.  Both of these items match the Night Before Christmas Suite.  The Memory and More card pack includes 54 double sided cards 6 each of 9 designs in 3" x 4" and 4" x 6" size along with 6 sticker sheets.  This card pack is also designed for a Holiday Memory Book (which was I offered as one of my online classes last month).
To use the Night Before Christmas Memory & More Card Packs and the Night Before Christmas Memory & More Cards and Envelopes together to create cards is really really easy.  All you have to do is simply adhere cards from the card pack to the cards.  With just these products you can make 20 cards and coordinating envelopes.
For this card I took the card that said To Santa and used some scrap Crumb Cake Cardstock and punched out a 1/2 circle using my 1/2 Circle Punch.  I attached that with a little liquid glue to the card from the Card pack.  I then took a hand held punch (retired) and punched a hole in the center of the crumb cake piece through the card.  I added some of the Cherry Cobbler 3/8" Diagonal Stripped Ribbon through the hole and tied it into a bow.  I then attached this to the card with a few Stampin' Dimensionals.
And just like that you have a complete card all done.  Really and truly it's just that quick to create tons of cards just using these products.  Thanks for dropping by today.  I am glad that you are here.  I am preparing as I type this blog post to get ready to attend the OnStage Local in Atlanta next weekend, so be on the watch out on my Social Media channels for little sneak peeks of upcoming products from the 2020 Occasions Catalog and Saleabration Brochure.

CASE the Catalog - Merry Moose

Hello and welcome to this weeks Case the Catalog post; this week I picked a card featuring one of my favorite stamp set bundles.  I picked a card that can be found on page 27 of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  In case you don't have a catalog and you missed the title I am Casing one of the Merry Moose cards on that page.  If you are not sure what I mean about CASE; it stands for Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit.  Here's a look at my card.

Here's a look at the card created by the concept artists at Stampin' Up! that inspired my card today.  This card can be found on page 27 of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.

You can see from both photos I did Copy and Selectively Edit my version of this card.  I went with a Very Vanilla card base (4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 to make a top folding card) and layered a full size Balmy Blue layer on top (4 1/4 x 5 1/2).  There's was created with a side folding Balmy Blue cardbase.  Both versions are just as nice.  This is one thing about casing a card is you can take the idea and change it to your style.  I happen to prefer to make top folding cards.
I went with the Very Vanilla card base so that I didn't have to add additional cardstock to the inside of the card.  This allows me to write my greeting with enough room.  I could have just added an additional layer but with that comes additional bulk to the card.
I stamped the solid image of the moose across the card front with matching Balmy Blue ink just as the catalog sample.  I also did the Moose outline on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock with matching ink and punched it out with the matching punch.  I added the Real Red Curly Ribbon as a scarf and tied it around his little neck to secure it.  I then popped the moose punch out up on a few dimensionals.  I did change the width of the Call Me Clover sentiment banner and decided not to fish tail the ends as seen in the inspiration image.  This was also popped up on dimensionals.
There are a few great things about CASEing that I hope you are learning from this bi-weekly series!  One, that you can find great ideas from the catalogs, they are more than just a shopping source.  The catalogs have a countless number of ideas for card making and paper crafting to copy and learn from.  And, two you can improve your skills by casing.  When you do this you not only have to figure out what was used but the sizes used, color combinations, and different techniques.  All of these things helps you to improve and build your card and paper crafting skills and makes you a better crafter.  Thanks for dropping by this week for this part of the CASEing bi-weekly series.  My hope is that you are learning a lot about the importance of doing this and that you are giving it a try each week.  I will see you again tomorrow.
