There are many different ways to do emboss resist and many many different techniques to do this technique.  I picked one of my favorites, as you will see in my card today using the Joyful Holly Stamp Set from the August-December Mini Catalog.
I decided to do the layering emboss resist technique on my card today.  I love the look of all the different layers and colors underneath each layer of ink, emboss resist, and color.  This just excites my soul.  Here's a look at my card.

Here's this week's challenge image that inspired my card today.  You can click on the image below to visit the Spot Challenge Blog to check out what the other design team members did with this challenge and to play along as well.

I started off my card by embossing both of the holly branches from the Joyful Holly Stamp Set in Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  Next I used Pear Pizzazz Ink and ink blended over the embossing.  Once the ink was dry I repeated the process add a new layer of clear embossing over the pervious inked background then added a darker layer over that.  I used the following inks to do the ink blending between layers.  I used Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Pretty Peacock, and Tuxedo Black.

Next I stamped and the Holly onto another piece of Whisper White Cardstock in Tuxedo Black Ink and used Old Olive and a touch of Mossy Meadow Inks on the leaves.  The berries I stamped in Merry Merlot Ink.  I then used my Paper Snips and cut each one out.  I stamped my sentiment in Merry Merlot Ink and cut it out with the next to largest stitched circles in the Stitched Shapes Dies.  I also cut out a matching scalloped circle with the Layering Circles Dies in Merry Merlot.  I then attached my panel to a Whisper White layer and wrapped some of the Old Olive and Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon around the layer and tied it into a bow.  I then popped this layer up on a Merry Merlot card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To finish my card off I attached the sentiment circle to the center of the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals and added the two holly branches to around it with a few Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  Thanks for dropping by today I hope that you enjoy playing with the Emboss Resist Technique this week.  If you need any of the supplies I used today you can pick them up in my online store by clicking on the items in the Stampin' Up!
