Botanical Butterfly Circles Card

Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Saleabration, Rick Adkins

Hello and welcome to my second post for today.  I am finally back on schedule with this post.  I was a couple posts behind according to my posting and video calendar.  I wanted to share this with you today, I shared it back in December at the downline meeting I attend.  My upline doesn't hold a meeting of her own so I attend a friends, and each month different people share projects, this was mine for that month.  I used the Saleabration Botanical Butterfly Designer Series paper for my card.  This was actually a super simple card to create.  It takes advantage of our circle punches, you could use the Layering Circle Framelits also if you wanted to.  But, I went for quick with just the punches to me that seemed quicker.  I did this card in a both Balmy Blue and Grapefruit Grove.  I pulled the colors from the designer series paper.

If you notice I started (well, after punching all the different size circles that is) with the Needlepoint Nook Framelit dies and used the large stitched die and ran it through the big shot twice to create the background.  On the grapefruit grove piece I added a thin boarder of basic black to make it pop better.  You can let me know in the comment below which version you like better.  The one with or without the boarder.  Then I simply layered up the circles and glued them down to the cardstock.

I stamped a simple sentiment from the Butterfly Gala stamp set on a 1/2" strip of whisper white and made a flag tail banner.  I added a little of the petal pink and silver bakers twine in a bow to add just a little sparkle.

The inside was just simply stamped with one of the butterfly stamps from the set in the matching color to the cardstock.  This is super easy since all the ink and cardstock matches from Stampin' Up!.
Here's a little closer look at the Balmy Blue card.

Lovely Lattice Rainbow Card Stepped up Version

Lovely Lattice stamp set, stampin up, Rick Adkins

Hello and welcome to my blog.  Today, I am going to share with you a stepped up version of the card I shared a few weeks ago using this same stamp set and the same ink colors, creating a rainbow stamped card using the stamparatus.  You can find the details and photos of that card here.
For today's card I actually added one additional element to the card and it changed the entire appearance.  You may be asking well what in the world did you have to add it looked pretty as it was.  Well I wanted a little sparkle to the card so I added in a fourth ink color to my Lovely Lipstick, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay color combo.  I added in versamark and silver embossing powder.  Yes, that's right silver embossing powder and versamark.

You can see the shine when the card is slightly turned to the side.  As in the above picture.  You can also see (as I mentioned in the other post) that your ink colors when combined create different tones and hues.  This card shows off more of the purple color that the Lovely Lipstick and Bermuda Bay created.  I still have a little of the daffodil and the other colors that were created in there but the purple took the more dominate tone this time.  I inked up the stamp the same way in the stamparatus but instead of inking up and filling in the entire stamp with colors I went and added versamark to the areas that were blank.

I then removed the card front and added the silver embossing powder and embossed the card.  Super easy addition, but with a very nice result.

To finish off the card I stamped the Lovely Lipstick card base (4 1/4 x 11) with matching ink and used the tiny flower from the set to create a background.  I trimmed down my whisper white panel to 3 1/4 x 4 1/2.  Next I layered the focal image on a piece of Old Olive cardstock (3 1/2 x 4 3/4) and placed it on the card base.  I added a piece of whisper white to the inside for my written message.

Thanks for dropping by today I hope that you will give this technique a try.  If you need any of the supplies you have seen today you can pick them up in my online store.  The Lovely Lattice stamp set is a Saleabration item and can only be earned with a $50 order in my online store.  You will find a full list of the supplies below.

Saturday Simple Stamping Episode 10: featuring the Needle & Thread Stamp Set

Needle & Thread Stamp Set, #simplestamping, Rick Adkins

Hello and welcome, I am going to share with you today yesterday's Saturday Simple Stamping card and video.  I do a Facebook Live on Saturday at 11 showing a Simple Stamping Project.  Simple stamping is all about using stamps ink and paper.  Sometimes you can not bet the look of a crisp stamped image on paper.  And if you have never stamped before or just getting into stamping:  All you have to have is just a stamp set, ink, and paper to create something beautiful.  This entire series is about helping people that have never or just getting into stamping to learn.

This month I am adding in a little designer series paper into each project.  Last month I added in a punch to some of the projects.  For February I will be doing a few different designs and using a couple different packs of designer series paper.  You will always find a list of products used at the bottom of the blog post; as well as a link to my online store.  Here's a look at this past Saturday's Card.

Tips & Tricks:

I started out with a piece of Gorgeous Grape Cardstock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.  I stamped the flower images, and butterfly images on the card base in matching Gorgeous Grape ink.  I then added strips of the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (which you can earn for FREE with a $50 order in my online store.  I cut the designer series paper as followed.  (2) @ 3/4" x 5 1/4 and (1) @ 1/2" x 5 1/4.  I added the 1/2" x 5 1/4" piece first to make lining up the other two easier.  I added Snail adhesive to the back and attached it to the card base.  Next I repeated the process with the other two strips and made sure that the Highland Heather side was facing up.

I stamped the large flowers in Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink first.  Then I added the leaves in Granny Apple Green Ink.  I then stamped the sentiment, and moved onto the butterflies.  I did a stamped the butterflies using first, second, and third generation stamping.  All that really means is I stamped the butterflies three times without reinking the stamp to create three different ink tones.

For the inside of the card I added the birthday sentiment and stamped the large flowers with some of the leaves.  Just so you know you can line the leaves up to fit the flower where they look like they are behind the flowers by just turning the leaf stamp to fit.  It takes a couple turns but when you find the right way the leaves will just nestle in and fit perfectly.  This process is made really easy with the fact that the Needle & Thread Stamp Set is a photopolymer Set.

His Grace Basic Stampin' Blends Tutorial Video

His Grace Cling Mount Stamp Set, Rick Adkins, Stampin' Blends

Hello and welcome to my blog.  If you are on my WordPress blog you may be noticing some different things going on.  Just a little heads up I am in the process of changing over my blog to a different platform.  It's not ready yet but very soon I will release a update letting you know when the new blog is ready.  But, today I am sharing with you one of the cards that I created for my church to send out in January.  We have a new card ministry where I make a card each week.  And, it is passed around and everyone in the church that day will sign the card and we send it to a fellow church letting them know that we all are praying for them for the reason they have requested.  Each week its a different church in our organization.

For January I created two designs using the same stamp set.  I used the His Grace Cling Mount Stamp Set in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  I also share in the video a few tips on basic Stampin' Blends coloring.  Here's a look at the card that I created.

Tips & Tricks:

The coloring for this card is really easy.  And, what makes it easier are the fact that Stampin' Blends only come in a light and dark tone.  This feature makes it super easy for people that have never colored before to achieve great results.  Just the two tones take out the guesswork from deciding what color to pick next.

I used only two colors to create this card.  When I set down to design this card for my church last month I needed a few things.  One, It had to be easy to create.  Two, It had to be quick coloring.  And, three it had to look good.   So by limiting the number of colors was the perfect way to go.  The His Grace stamp set was also the perfect choice because it had images that could be colored quickly and was church appropriate. Here's a look at the stamp set.
