Spring Time Joy Easter Card

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a card that I colored using my Prismacolor Pencils, a little Baby Oil, Q-Tip, and the Spring filled Spring Time Joy Cling Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!.  Here's a look at my card!

Welcome Easter and spring with images you stamp using the Springtime Joy Stamp Set. You can stamp them on note cards or tags, then add them to gifts and goodies. Color with any of your favorite coloring tools to add your own personal touch like I did today to create this fun spring scene card.   Look how much fun our little lamb and bunny are having collecting their little Easter eggs.

Coloring Tips:

To start off my card I first stamped the lamb and bunny from the Spring Time Joy Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and stamped three of each of the flowers in the stamp set around the panel of Basic White Cardstock.  I gave the ink time to dry just as a precaution.  This wasn't really needed but it was in my head to let it dry just a little bit before I started coloring.  While this was happening I gathered my Prismacolor Pencils I wanted to use, a little baby oil (in a small container with a cotton ball) and a few Q-Tips.

When coloring with colored pencil no matter what brand you use you want to start off with a very light application of color and gradually build up the layers of color to a more heavy application.  Smooth cardstock doesn't have a lot of tooth to hold a lot of the wax pigment from the pencils in the close knit fibers, that's where the baby oil or other blending solutions come in handy.  They allow you once dried to add additional layers of  colors and smooths the layers together and out.  This allows you to build up more colors on the smooth surface of the Basic White Cardstock.

Prismacolor Pencils Used:

Here's a list of the Prismacolor Pencils that I used on my card today.  I purchased my pencils in different sets and from open stock pencils from Art Supply Stores online.
  • 915 Lemon Yellow
  • 916 Canary Yellow
  • 1003 Spanish Orange
  • 992 Hot Pink
  • 930 Magenta
  • 928 Blush Pink
  • 989 Chartreuse
  • 913 Spring Green
  • 908 Dark Green
  • 907 Peacock Green
  • 1086 Sky Blue Light
  • 1023 Cloud Blue
  • 1050 Warm Gray 10%
  • 1051 Warm Gray 20%
  • 1052 Warm Gray 30%
  • 1056 Warm Gray 70%
  • 1054 Warm Gray 50%
  • 1082 Chocolate
  • 945 Sienna Brown
  • 946 Dark Brown
I used the Lemon Yellow, Canary Yellow and Spanish Orange on all my yellow flowers, and Blush Pink, Hot Pink, and Magenta on all the pink flowers.  For the grass I used layers of Chartreuse, Spring Green, Dark Green, and a little Peacock Green (as the shadow color).  My lamb and bunny were colored with the warm gray pencils.  I used the Warm Gray 50% and 70% pencils as the darkest colors on the lamb.

To finish off my card I added my colored panel to a 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" piece of Highland Heather Cardstock and placed this on a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Thick Very Vanilla Card Base.  I then stamped my sentiment onto a piece of Basic White Cardstock and trimmed it down to fit the sentiment from the Spring Time Joy Stamp Set:  Adding it to the card with some Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  The finishing  touches to my card are a few Butterfly Gems in Purple Posy, and Seaside Spray.
