Rick's Saturday Simple Stamping #36 featuring Holiday Haul Host Stamp Set

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you another simple stamping card featuring the host exclusive stamp set Holiday Haul.  You will find this stamp set in the back of the 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  Today's card also kicks off my 25 Days of Christmas Series over on my YouTube Channel with new Holiday Card  Videos each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  I will also be sharing those tutorials with you as well here.  So here's a look at today's card.

You can change the sentiment on this card to anything that will fit into the small ornament punch from the Gleaming Ornament Punch set, as you will see on the video I changed it to just a simple Hello.  I started out with a piece of Whisper White thick card stock cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2.  And then added another piece cut just a little smaller 4 x 5 1/4.  One the smaller piece is where I did the stamping for this card.  

I stamped the snowflakes from the Holiday Haul Stamp set all over this piece in the video I just stamped on the card base without the additional piece of cardstock.  I did second generation stamping for the snowflakes using Seaside Spray ink.  Then I came back and stamped all the reindeer in each of the 2019-2021 In Colors (Terracotta Tile, Rococo Rose, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray, and Purple Posy).  

I then stamped the sentiment on a scrap of whisper white thick cardstock and punched it out using the small ornament punch I mentioned above.  I added some silver metallic thread behind that and popped it up on a couple dimensionals.

Watercolor Background on Designer Series Paper

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you one way to change your designer series paper.  I did just that on my card today, it's not a drastic change but enough that it gives the paper a new feel and added texture.  I used the Mosaic Mood Speciality Designer Series Paper and a little ink and my Aqua Painter.  Here's a look at my card.

Tips & Tricks: 

I wanted to add a little watercolor wash to create a little creepier looking background for my card today.  One thing you have to remember before I get to far into this is that you are painting on plain paper so it will not take to much water without damage, so something to keep in mind.  So go gently with the water.  You can always build up more color once it's dry.

Another thing to remember is that each paper will take the water and ink differently.  For example the Mosaic Mood DSP has areas that have a clear embossed coating.  So those areas act like a emboss resist.  Only the areas of the paper without the coating changes colors.  I used Blackberry Bliss ink on my card today.  Once i had the designer series paper the way I wanted I sat it aside to dry.  You could also dry it with a heat tool, but becareful on how much you do this because it can cause the paper to warp more.

Once I had the paper dry I could add it to a mat cut just slightly bigger than the DSP.  I then added that to a Terracotta Tile card base (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4) using a strong adhesive.  I used a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach the DSP to the Basic Black mat, and then to the card base.  I stamped the bottle image from Monster Bash and the sentiment, in tuxedo black ink.  I did some simple coloring with my Stampin' Blends and cut both out with the Stitched Rectangle dies and the Ornate Frame Dies.  I added a strip of Blackberry Bliss Cardstock cut at an angle and some of the Basic Black Scalloped Ribbon.  I attached both of these with a little tear & tape.  The sentiment and rectangle was attached with a couple dimensionals.  I added some of the Monster Bash Enamel Shapes for a little added fun to finish off the card.

9 Lives Turn About Type Card for National Cat Day

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you the project that I made last night during my Facebook Live.  I do a weekly Facebook Live each week on Wednesday Night at 8 pm CST.  Each week I do a different project using Stampin' Up! products.  I showed how to make a turn about type card last night using the Nine Lives Stamp Set, just in time for National Cat Day; which by the way is on the 29th.  Here's a look at my card.

How to Make A Turn about Jig: 

You can make your own turn about jig with just a 6 x 6 piece of cardstock or acetate.  You have to make it from corner to corner and make the middle point.  You then line up all the images in one of the quarter of the jig.  ink all the stamps up in a light color and stamp the images, turn the entire piece and repeat until you are all the way around.  Next you will rearrange the images a couple in each section.  Ink up the images and stamp in dark color, you will look for how the images line up and not over lap.  Turn and repeat this process until you get all the way around, making any adjustments that may be needed.  Once you have this done and there's no over lap you can start using the jig.  

Once I had everything stamped out I cam back in and stamped the sentiment on the card front, and then stamped the cat on a piece of scrap paper.  I used the Cat Punch and punched out the car and added it to the card front with a few dimensionals.
