Timeless Tropical - Stampin' Up! - Retirement Card

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you the card that I shared during my Facebook Live on Wednesday night.  I used the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set to create a easy layered card for someone that is retiring.  I personally think the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set is perfect for any occasion but that's just me.  Here's a look at the card that I did.

I love that you can do this card with all the layering and it just looks fabulous but is so super easy.  I love cards like this when they look complicated but are easy as pie.  Another thing that I love is that you can do the same design but by changing up the colors and images you get a completely different look to the card.  Someone suggested during my Facebook live that pink would be pretty.  And, it so would.

When I first designed this card I created the one you see above using the large floral image from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set.  I paired the large flower with Early Espresso a color that is used in a lot of masculine themed cards.  I personally think it's a wonderful color for anytime.  I love it's rich bold tone and earthy rawness.   Which is why I also think it plays nicely with the large hibiscus.  So for the card that I did during the live I wanted to change things up just a little so I decided to change up the stamped image and the color.

So I decided to use pool Party and the large leaf image from the stamp set to change things up a little and to share how versatile the stamp set really is.  I can not decided which card I like the best; which is your favorite?  I really love the mix fonts in this stamp set.  If you want me to by a stamp set have flowers and mix fonts in it and it's as good as sold.

I was not worried about the images not lining up all the way.  I wasn't actually going for that but some of them did and that's okay too.  But, I didn't do the style stamping where I wanted the stamped images on each layer to look as if they were all lined up perfectly.  I was fine with them being off just a tad.  Most probably didn't even notice that until I pointed it out.

Video Tutorial:

If you are viewing this post by email you may not be able to view the video.  If so you will need to click here.  Not all mail servers will show the embedded embedded video.

Remember that the Timeless Tropical bundle is on the retiring list even through the stamp set and the dies are carrying over the bundle price will not be available.   So, if you would like to save that additional 10% off the bundle I would go ahead and get it.  I have created a PDF Tutorial for you to download with all the supplies, instructions, and measurements for you for this card.  And I even did the measurements for my A4 metric friends as well.  You can download the Free PDF by Clicking here.

Thanks for dropping by today I hope that you enjoyed this little tropical card and if you need any of the supplies that you have seen used today you can order them in my online store 24/7 by clicking on the item in the shopping list below.

Timeless Tropical Tab Flip Card for The Spot Challenge #109

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you my card for this weeks challenge over at The Spot.  This weeks challenge is a little different than most.  We came up with a challenge that isn't your typical card.  You want to create something for this challenge that isn't your normal card.  I decided to do another fun fold / interactive card, and you all know that I don't do a lot of them.  And It has a lot of layers.  I used products from the Tropical Oasis Suite in the January - June Mini Catalog.  Here's a look at my card.

Tips & Tricks:

This interactive card isn't really as hard as it may appear.  It's got a few more steps than I like but not to bad that I wouldn't complete it.  It really didn't take much time to complete and those are the types of fancy fold/interactive cards that I like.  You will need a standard card base 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 I used Early Espresso for mine.  You also need a matching piece of cardstock for the flip out and scraps for the layers.  the flip out is 2 x 6 scored at 2 & 2 1/2.

Most of it is hidden behind the designer series paper which is cut at 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.  I popped it up on dimensionals to make the channel.  I used the classic label punch on the Tropical Oasis Designer Series paper to make the channel.  I then took the 2 x 6 piece and added tear & tape to the fold and added the stitched squares.  You need one large stitched square, two of the next size (one of those is whisper white and the other is early espresso), and one of the third size.

I stamped and colored the flowers and leaves with my Stampin' Blends.  I then added some of the die cuts from the bundle onto the front of the card as well as adding some of the Tropical Oasis Trinkets.  I added a pull tab with the 5/16" Braided Burlap Trim and pull another section of it apart to make a very textural bow.  I tried a staple at first and hated how it looked.

For the inside of my card i added another sentiment and stamped the palm trees onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock before adding it to the card.  Here's the challenge image that inspired my card today and the link to play along.

Thanks for dropping by today I hope you have a wonderful day and that you will take a little time this week and create a card and play along.  You don't have to have a blog to play along.  If you need any of the supplies that you have seen today you can order them in my online store by clicking on the items below.  I am featuring the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set in my next online class I will have more details on that later today.
