Hello and welcome to my blog and this month's Blogging Friends Blog Hop. This Month our theme was FALL. The official first day of Fall is only a few weeks away and it was the perfect time to kick it off with all types of projects with the wonderful colors of and the feel of cool crisp harvest air. I picked the Gather Together Stamp Set () from the 2019 Holiday Catalog (which is now live) for my project today. Here's a look at my card.
Tips & Tricks:
I used the large leaf from the Stamp set and stamped it three times in the following colors on Whisper White Cardstock (); Cajun Craze Classic Ink (), Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink (), and Merry Merlot Classic Stampin' Pad (). Then I used the matching die from the Gather Leaves Dies and cut them out. My sentiment is on a piece of Whisper White cardstock stamped in Merry Merlot ink.
I created my card base with a piece of Pear Pizzazz Cardstock () cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2. Then I placed a piece of the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper () onto a piece of Merry Merlot Cardstock () cut at 5 3/8 x 4 1/8. The Come to Gather Designer Series Paper (4 x 5 1/4) I picked the plaid pattern with all the fun colors. I adore this little pattern in this pack of designer series paper and think that it could be used for so many different types of projects. Once I had everything ready to go it was time to start layering it all together.
After I had the designer series paper mounted on the card base I added the sentiment onto the card base with a few Stampin' Dimensionals (). Once I had it in place it was time to arrange the leaves that I had stamped and cut out before hand. I started out with the Cajun Craze leaf and applied it with a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue () tucking it a little under the sentiment piece. I then added the Merry Merlot leaf in the same manner. I then attached the Pear Pizzazz leaf with a little liquid glue and a couple dimensionals.
That finished off my card and it was ready to go with the addition of a piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you today is the last day to sign up and pay for my Holiday Product Shares. You can do so by clicking here to register! The Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog goes live tomorrow are you excited to be able to order all the new holiday goodies? Over the weekend I did a Holiday Catalog Launch Party to celebrate the catalog going live soon and talked about some of my favorite things during each presentation. Today's card is one of the samples that I shared during the Live Presentation on Facebook. I created this Season of Thanks card as one the samples for the Come To Gather Suite in the catalog. This Suite is our Fall themed suite this year and has some amazing color combinations and some fabulous products in it. Here's a look at my card.
I used products from both catalogs to create my card; I used the Gather Together Stamp Set (150589). Which is a photopolymer set and you can get alone or as part of the Gather Together Cost Savings Bundle (153036). Anytime you order one of the bundles from Stampin' Up! you're saving 10% off the price of the products. I started out by picking which piece of designer series paper I wanted to use and from that is where I picked my colors. I picked to use Pretty Peacock as the main color of my card and picked Crushed Curry as the supporting color. Even with it not being in this piece of designer series paper it works so well with the colors. One of my inspirations for this color combinations also came from the August Paper Pumpkin kit. That kit contained fall themed projects and had these two colors in them.
Once I had the designer series paper picked and the colors it was time to start building the card. I picked Crushed Curry as my card base. I know some of you out there are not a fan of Crushed Curry, but it's an absolute show stopper of a color when paired with Pretty Peacock. The rich golden hue becomes even more striking when you put it up against the dark lush teal of the Pretty Peacock. I mean really if you think about it they probably play so well together because you can find a color similar to Crushed Curry in an actual peacock feather.
So once the card base was created it was time to dress it up. I cut my designer series paper in half and then used a scrap of Pretty Peacock cut to the same size and ran it through my die cutting/embossing machine with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder (150646) also in the Holiday Catalog. This folder adds so much texture to your projects that it's amazing. I have a video coming out later on where I played with it and the new Delciata inks and the look was a show stopper. I can't wait to share that with you.
I added both those cut pieces to a Pretty Peacock mat. To cover the seam I used the Crushed Curry 3/8" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon (149444) from the Annual Catalog. I wrapped it around the mat and secured it on the back and then tied a nice pretty bow on the front. It was then time to add my sentiment and focal image, as if I needed anything else to draw attention to this card. But, it did need a sentiment so I stamped my greeting and one of the pumpkins from the stamp set in Pretty Peacock Classic ink (#150083) on a large stitched oval and added it with a few Stampin' Dimensionals (104430). And, that finished off my card. I've gotten where I don't like to have a lot of embellishments on my cards, I really want the focal images and colors to stand out. Now, don't get me wrong I will add one if I think it needs it, but with this card I wanted all the textures from the crinkled ribbon, embossed cardstock, stitched oval and the texture in the designer series paper to really stand out. I think that by adding all these different textural elements has created a beautifully textured card.
As I mentioned before all the products in this suite will be available when the catalog goes live tomorrow. Here's a little video from my Catalog launch for you to view if you missed it on Saturday. Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you the Gratitude Journal I made my Sister recently. Must of you may know that my little brother is in the hospital again and he's in very critical condition. Myself, my sweet husband, and my sister have been at the hospital with him everyday. My sisters husband was there over the weekend with us and my older brother has been as much as his work schedule would allow. But, mainly its been the three of us there, so my sister and little brother are really close we had to make her go home the other night because she hadn't really slept. So I made her this little Gratitude Journal using the Pressed Petals Journal (from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog) and some of the products from the Come to Gather Suite in the 2019 Holiday Catalog. Here's a look at the finished journal.
I wanted her to be able to write some things down each day on what she's thankful for just in case he makes another turn for the worse. I thought that this would be a good way for her to get her thoughts out and to remember to be thankful for the good times we have all shared growing up and other things that bring us gratitude in our daily lives. I had just ordered the Pressed Petal Journal (#149588 on pages 73 and 170 of the Annual Catalog) a couple weeks ago. I didn't know why I was ordering it but knew there would be a reason to.
I used some upcoming products from the 2019 Holiday Catalog to decorate the outside and a few of the pages on the inside of the journal. I picked some products from the Come to Gather Suite (pages 46 - 48) because I thought it would compliment the Gratitude Journal concept well. These products will not be available until September 4, 2019 in my online store; so you are getting a little sneak peek at this suite.
For my decorations on the outside I used the Gather Together Bundle (#153036) because I loved the look of the leaves and the Season of Thanks sentiment. I thought that it was the perfect sentiment for a gratitude journal. Because we should always be in a season of thanks. I stamped the leaves in Pretty Peacock ink (#150083) and then did some in Pear Pizzazz ink (#147104) and Merry Merlot Ink (#147112) also. All the stamped leaves and the sentiment are done on Very Vanilla Cardstock (#101650). The last two ended up being used on the inside of the journal. I also used the same color cardstocks (Pretty Peacock Cardstock #150880, Pear Pizzazz Cardstock #131201, Merry Merlot Cardstock #146979) and die cut some of the smaller leaves as well. The dies that cut the smaller leaves also embosses them. It's not very easy to see in the picture here. I love the look of the embossed leaves and wished that they showed up a little better in this photo.
I added the leaves and sentiment to a piece of the Come To Gather Designer Series Paper (#150454) that I used in the background and as a banner under the sentiment. I then added the designer series paper and leaves element to a piece of Merry Merlot Cardstock and popped it up on Stampin' Dimensionals. I finished the decorations off with a double bow. For that I used some of the Cajun Craze Linen Thread that's in the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack (#150456) using a mini glue dot.
Once I had the outside down I had some leftover pieces so I added them through out the journal to tie everything together. I just picked a few random pages and added them in. Here are a few of the spreads I just added the leaves to.
I made sure to leave room for any photos she may want to add and her writing. I think that the Pressed Petals Journal makes the perfect gift for someone, because they can customize it to their needs. I wrote in the first page a really nice Gratitude quote and a personal message. When I gave it to her yesterday at the hospital she said "I love it and I am not going to cry!" Which showed me she really appreciated it.
