Lily Impressions DSP Card - Video Tutorial

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share a fun way to make a card using Designer Series Paper as the card base.  I picked the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper that's one of the Sale-A-Bration offering this year.  I also used the Lovely Lily Stamp Set and the matching Lily Pad Dies both of which are also Sale-A-Bration items and can all be earned for free with qualifying orders.  During the video I also share how to get a four color blend using two sets of Stampin' Blends.  Doing a four color blend is a little more advance coloring technique and it gives a more realistic coloring look.  Here's a look at my card.

Tips & Tricks:

I started out my card design by cutting my designer series paper down to the correct size.  It's cut to 4 1/4 x 12, and scored at 1" & 5 1/2".  Once it was scored I then used my bone folder and burnished each score line.  The 1" score line gets folded back to the front so that you can see both sides of the paper on the front of the card.  This is one of the reasons I love Designer Series Paper cards, because you don't have to decided which side of the paper you want to see, you actually get to see them both.

One thing depending on the designer series paper that you pick make sure that you have the paper turned in the right direction.  For this one it really isn't noticeable that I had it flipped upside down.  It still worked out just fine.  To decorate the front of the card a little I used both a 1/2" x 4 1/4 piece of Gorgeous Grape Cardstock for the this card as you will see in the video to add a little stability and to add just a little more color.  But, one the first card I used a piece of the Lovely Lipstick 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon instead.  I also used the detailed die from the set and cut out a piece of Green foil from the Noble Peacock Foil pack.  I added this to the center of the card front with a little liquid glue behind.

Once I had the foil die cut a large stitched whisper white circle and scalloped circle to layer behind.  I stamped the lily and lily pad from the stamp set twice in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Once the ink dried a little bit I started the coloring process.  I started out with Dark Lovely Lipstick in the deepest shadow areas of each petal.  I worked one petal at a time so that I could get a good blend.  Next I moved the Light Lovely Lipstick and blended the dark out; next I moved to Dark Flirty Flamingo and then to Light Flirty Flamingo.  When blending flowers I do a very light handed flicking motion.  I also go in the direction of the flowers petals.  For the Lily pad since they are rounded I color in a circular motion.  This coloring method makes a round object appear rounded.  Once all the coloring was completed I used the matching die and cut everything out.  I added the colored images to the stitched circles with liquid glue and stampin' dimensionals.

Once everything was added to the front of the card I stamped the inside and colored the lily on the inside and added a sentiment.  For the card in the video I choose not to add anything to the inside yet because I wasn't sure what occasion I may want to use the card.  I also added some of the designer series paper to the flap of the envelope.  This way I have a perfectly coordinated card and envelope that's ready to go.

Painted Poppies CASE the Catalog

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you another Card for my CASE the Catalog Series.  Today's card was one that I received as part of a swap that I took part in back in November.  We were all assigned a different stamp set or bundle from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure or the January-June Mini Catalog to CASE.  As a reminder CASE means Copy And Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit.  This card was done by Elizabeth Mayfield-Hart of Spread Joy Stamping.  I have linked her blog so you can check out all the great projects Elizabeth comes up with.  Here's the card that Elizabeth picked to CASE from the Catalog.

Tips & Tricks:

This is a varly easy card to reproduce and I would actually consider it to be more on the #simplestamping side of the crafting spectrum.  The card base is a piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 to make a side folding card base.  Next Elizabeth stamped the poppy image from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.  She stamped it a couple of times along the bottom of the Poppy Parade layer (3 3/4 x 5 1/2).  This can be done two different ways.  One with just the stamp and a clear block.  Or, you can also do this by using the Stamparatus.

I not sure if Elizabeth used Stazon or Tuxedo Black ink for the stamping, but I am willing to suggest that it's probably Stazon Jet Black ink.  I think that this is the ink that was used because of how dark black it is stamped.  Tuxedo Black is really just a dark dark charcoal gray color and not a true true black.  The sentiment came from the matching stamp set Peaceful Moments.  Both of these stamp sets work together beautifully.  The Painted Poppies is all about the imagery and so in contrast the Peaceful Moments is all sentiments that can go with the Painted Poppies set or with any set you would like.
Thanks for dropping by today, I hope that you have a wonderful day and the finish of your weekend.  If you need any of the supplies you've seen today; you will find them all listed in the shopping list below.

I just love this little fun stamp set and so will any coffee or tea drinker in your life.  It has such fun sentiments and imagery that will make anyone happy.  I paired this with the Please as Punch Designer Series Paper for a fun colorful card that would make you just feel super happy if you received this card.  My card base is a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock cut to 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 to make a top folding card.  I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out my mat and Designer Series Paper layers.  I used the largest and next to largest rectangle dies to do that.  I just love how the Stitched Rectangle Dies layer together perfectly.
The Rise & Shine Stamp set makes you want to rise and shine and start stamping! Use the Rise & Shine Stamp Set to create cards and other projects with hot morning beverages and greetings that are sure to warm anyone’s heart. This stamp set is a Reversibles** set, so some of the stamps are two sided with an image on each side of the stamp for more creative options. Earn this stamp set FREE March 3–March 31, 2020, during part two of our Sale-A-Bration promotion!
To cut out the stamped cups and a couple of the other images in the stamp set I used the I used the Cup of Cheer Dies from the 2019 Holiday Catalog.  Yes, these were listed on the Retirement list so if you pulled yours and put them in your retired stash you will differently want to pull them back out again to have a fun time matching them with the Rise & Shine Stamp Set.
The Rise & Shine Stamp Set with the Cup of Cheer Dies will add a little warm feeling to your heart during the Spring and any other season that comes along.

Video Tutorial:

Here you will find my video which is part of this video hop.  If you are viewing this post by email you may have to click here or the image below to see the video.  Not all mail servers will show the embedded video.

After layering the designer series paper and the whisper white mat onto my card base I cut out a the largest stitched circle from the stitched shape dies and added it to the card front with the steam image stamped on to it with Smoky Slate ink.  I then placed it so that it was coming off the edge of the card and snipped off the excess.  I then stamped one of the cup images from the set and cut it out with the Cup of Cheer Dies and placed it on the circle where it looked like the steam was coming from the cup.  I popped the die cut cup up with a few Stampin' Dimensionals to give it a new layer.
I then stamped the same cup onto a piece of 4 x 5 1/4 piece of whisper white along with another sentiment from the stamp set for the inside of my card.  And, glued it to the inside with multipurpose liquid glue.  To finish off my card and add a little shine to it I added a few Basic Rhinestones on some of the flowers on the Pleased As Punch Designer Series Paper layer (which by the way matches punches from the Sale-a-bration brochure and the January-June Mini Catalog.)  If you don't have this paper yet you totally need to grab it and any other of the coordinating products before they are gone.  They are only while supplies last or until March 31, 2020.
