Blogging Friends December Blog Hop: New Year New You

Hello and welcome to this month's Blogging Friends Blog Hop.  This month our theme was New Year New You, which can be interpreted in many different ways.  Everything changes and evolves, just as our blog hop evolves so do we each year.  You may notice a new blog header as well this month.  In keeping with this month's theme I decided that it was time to update the hops look as well.  For my card this month I used the Sip Sip Hooray Stamp Set which is perfect for New Year's cards as well as congratulations, and so much more.  Here's a look at my project.

Tips & Tricks:

For my card the first thing that I did was take a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of thick Whisper White and stamped out the images from the stamp set.  After stamping in Tuxedo Black ink I stamped the same images on masking paper and cut them out.  I placed the masks over each image and a couple strips of post-it tape where the table would go.  At this point I colored the background with my Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blend Combo Pack in a ombre affect.  Once I had the background colored I used my Basic Pattern Decorative Masks and the Shimmery White Embossing Paste to create a wall paper effect.
Before the paste dried I pulled off all my masks and then set my card front aside to dry completely before coloring in the table and other images.  Once the Shimmery White Embossing Paste was dry I started coloring in the glasses with Mint Macaron, Mango Melody, Real Red, Pretty Peacock, Pineapple Punch, and Soft Seafoam Combo Packs.  Some of the coloring was done with a four color blend while others where just done with a two color blend.  The table was colored with Bronze, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Gray Granite.  I layered each color over the other in different movements of the blends.  I tried to give the impression of woodgrain.
Once I had everything colored I stamped the sentiment onto some peaces of Pretty Peacock cardstock in Versamark ink and added White Stampin' Emboss Powder.  Then I used the Heat Tool to set the powder until smooth and melted.   I added the sentiment to the front of the card on Stampin' Dimensionals.  I then added the entire card front to a Thick Whisper White card base.

Frosted Foliage Bundle

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share a little card I made using the Frosted Foliage Bundle.  I also used the Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper; which has sold out.  But I had made this card before it had sold out.  The Year-End Closeout sale kicked off yesterday and the Frosted Foliage Bundle is listed in the sale.  So If you haven't gotten this stamp set you may want to add it to your next order before it's gone.  All the items on the Year-End Closeout as most products in the mini catalogs are while supplies last.  Here's a look at my project for today.

Tips & Tricks:

Spread a little yuletide cheer with beautiful Christmas cards and projects made using the Frosted Foliage Stamp Set. The delicate images and warm sentiments will light up the season for those you love.  The Frosted Foliage Bundle includes the Frosted Foliage Cling Stamp Set and the Frosted Frames Dies.  Frosted Frames Dies are used to create custom winter and Christmas die-cut frames in record time, just like I did with my card today.  I started off with a piece of Seaside Spray Cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2.  After I folded and burnished the card base I cut down a piece of the Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper to 5 1/4 x 4 and layered it onto a piece of whisper white cardstock cut at 5 3/8 x 4 1/8.  Before layering I die cut one of the frames from the die set from the middle of the whisper white, along with some snowflakes.
After doing all my die cuts and saving a little paper I added the designer series paper using a little liquid glue.  I then used my fine tip glue pen and applied it all over the snowflakes.  While the glue was still wet I added some of the Ice Stampin' Glitter to each.  I then set them aside to dry.  While drying I added two strips of tear & tape to the bottom third of the card and placed a couple strips of the Seaside Spray 1/4" Metallic Ribbon.
I then added the sentiment on Stampin' Dimensionals over the ribbon.  At this point the snowflakes where dry so I could add them to the card.  I added them each with a little liquid glue.  To finish off the card I added a few rhinestones to add just a little bling.  I added five snowflakes total; you all know if you follow me I believe in the rule of odds.  Which says odd numbers always look better.
Thanks for dropping by today, I hope that you have a wonderful day.  Remember that the designer series paper is out of stock, and the Frosted Foliage bundle is on the Year-End Closeout so get it while you can.

Let it Snow Scandinavian Star Ornament Home Decor Piece Video Tutorial

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a super cute home decor piece that's super easy to make and actually quick.  One other thing that is great about this project is you can use up some of that Designer Series Paper you may have on hand or in your stash.  I saw this on a video and in industry magazine recently and just had to try it.  I have been making the smaller version of the Scandinavian Star Ornaments for one of our Christmas Trees.  We have a few different trees that we put up every year, you can see past Christmas Open House photos by doing a search in the search bar.  If not I will try to come back and try to link it from a couple years ago.  We decided this year to create a tree with handmade ornaments, so I am super excited to see it completed.  Anyway here's a look at my home decor piece.

Tips & Tricks:

This project only takes 12 1" x 12" strips to make.  So you can make a lot of them with one pack of DSP.  Once you have your Designer Series Paper cut into the strips you are going to take six of them and weave together.  You start with three stripes and weave the other three together.  Once all together you are going to turn it into an x and then glue the two closes strips together as shown on the video.  You are going to repeat this all the way around and repeat with the other six stripes.
Once both stars are constructed you are going to put both together.  To secure both stars together you are going to weave the leftover strips into the curls and secure with glue.  To finish it off you are going stamp and color one of the snow men from the stamp set or whatever you decided to put on the inside.  Color it with coordinating colors and layer together with dimensionals.  Attach to the center of the put together stars with a little liquid glue.  Create a hole at the top and add your ribbon.  Make a loop for the top and a bow to add a little pretty.  At this point you are ready to hang.

Video Tutorial:

If you are viewing this post by email you may have to click here or on the image below to see the video.  Some mail servers will not play the embedded video.
I hope that you have enjoyed this project and that I have inspired you a little to try this at home.  This would make a great decoration for any season by changing up the paper.  Thanks for dropping by I will see you again very soon.
