Let it Snow Scandinavian Star Ornament Home Decor Piece Video Tutorial

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a super cute home decor piece that's super easy to make and actually quick.  One other thing that is great about this project is you can use up some of that Designer Series Paper you may have on hand or in your stash.  I saw this on a video and in industry magazine recently and just had to try it.  I have been making the smaller version of the Scandinavian Star Ornaments for one of our Christmas Trees.  We have a few different trees that we put up every year, you can see past Christmas Open House photos by doing a search in the search bar.  If not I will try to come back and try to link it from a couple years ago.  We decided this year to create a tree with handmade ornaments, so I am super excited to see it completed.  Anyway here's a look at my home decor piece.

Tips & Tricks:

This project only takes 12 1" x 12" strips to make.  So you can make a lot of them with one pack of DSP.  Once you have your Designer Series Paper cut into the strips you are going to take six of them and weave together.  You start with three stripes and weave the other three together.  Once all together you are going to turn it into an x and then glue the two closes strips together as shown on the video.  You are going to repeat this all the way around and repeat with the other six stripes.
Once both stars are constructed you are going to put both together.  To secure both stars together you are going to weave the leftover strips into the curls and secure with glue.  To finish it off you are going stamp and color one of the snow men from the stamp set or whatever you decided to put on the inside.  Color it with coordinating colors and layer together with dimensionals.  Attach to the center of the put together stars with a little liquid glue.  Create a hole at the top and add your ribbon.  Make a loop for the top and a bow to add a little pretty.  At this point you are ready to hang.

I hope that you have enjoyed this project and that I have inspired you a little to try this at home.  This would make a great decoration for any season by changing up the paper.  Thanks for dropping by I will see you again very soon.

Happy Thanksgiving - Day of Thanks

Hello and welcome to my blog for the second post for today;  I wanted to take a few minutes and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and I have a card for the occasion.  I used the Day of Thanks stamp set to create this card.  Since it was designed for Thanksgiving with some iconic imagery it was a must to create.  Here's a look at my card.

I started my card by adding a piece of the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper cut at 3 3/4 x 5.  I stamped the Happy Thanksgiving from the stamp set in Early Espresso on the designer series paper.  I stamped the turkey onto a stitch circle in Early Espresso also.  I added the designer series paper to a Cajun Craze mat cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  I attached this to a Early Espresso card base cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.
To dress up the card I used some of the denim ribbon and the Crumb Cake ribbon from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack.  I attached the ribbon with a little tear & tape and then popped the stitched circle with the turkey up over the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Thanks for dropping by.  I hope that you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday if you are in the states.  Also I wanted to mention that I have my Black Friday - Cyber Monday Ordering Special going on right now.   You can read all about it by clicking here.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop: Winter Gifts

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you two alternative projects for the November Paper Pumpkin Kit Winter Gifts.  My post is also part of this month's A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  Each month we come up with a couple alternative projects using that month's kit.  This month I created both a card and a 3d project as my alternative projects.  Here's a look at my projects.

Tips & Tricks:

For my 3d project I created a tall milk carton.  I started out by stamping my 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 Shaded Spruce cardstock with the holly image from this months exclusive stamp set.  I stamped it all over the background cardstock to create my own designer series paper of sorts.  Once it was stamped I used my Simply Score to score the cardstock.  I scored it at 2, 4, 6, and 8 on one side.  Next I turned it on the other side and scored at 2" then I flipped it around and over and scored at 1/2".  Once all the scoring was done it was time to fold and burnish all the score lines.  I cut up the 2" score lines at the bottom and took off the two very small rectangles.  You are going to secure the carton together with tear and tape.  I used my crop a dile to punch holes in the top to weave ribbon through the holes to secure close.  I stamped a sentiment on one of the banners and added it to the poppy parade circle.  I then tucked some of the holly die cuts behind the sentiment and added some red rhinestones as the berries and to add a little bling.
For the card I used a piece of Real Red Cardstock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.  I stamped the little snowflakes from the set onto my whisper white cardstock ( 3 3/4 x 5) all over the background.  I layered this piece onto a Real Red mat (3 7/8 x 5 1/8) which was placed on a 5 1/4 x 4 Early Espresso mat.  I then stamped the sentiment onto a one of the banners and added one of the pool party banners behind that one.  I added one of the sleds to the card front along with the sentiment.  I wanted to add just a little more bling to the card.  But how to do it, there are so many choices but I wanted to have a snow effect.  I decided to add some dots of the fine tip glue all over the background and then use my Dazzling Diamond glitter and sprinkle it over the glue.
