Broadway Birthday Turnabout Card

Hello and welcome to my blog; today's post has been a challenge to get up.  I have been trying to upload the images to my computer since 6:15 am this morning.  My laptop has been a little ornery, but I have finally gotten everything uploaded and edited.  Today, I am going to share with you another card featuring the Broadway Birthday Stamp Set.  This card is a little different, I used the small images in the stamp set to create my very own turnabout style card.  I will be shooting a video later today and will add it to this post so that you can see just how I did that.  Here's a look at my card.

For my card I picked some bright fun colors.  I mean come on it's a birthday card it should be bright and fun right?  I laid out my stamps on my stamparatus and created the layout so that I could use the turnabout style stamping to get all the fun colors and change things up.  The hardest part about this process is the actual making sure everything is lined up just right.  But once you do the cards are so much fun.   After editing the photos I realized I forgot one of the small stamps and could have used it to fill in some of the areas on my card.  Silly me; this is what happens when you aren't paying attention to your stamp sets.
The small stamps in your sets really shouldn't be over looked you can use them to create some many different techniques and fun card designs.  I often use these small stamps to create a background piece for my card.
As I mentioned before turnabout stamping is a great way to use these small images in a new way with a wonderful dramatic look.  It just takes a little playing to arrange all the images.  But, once you do you can create a colorful background just like I did here with just a few turns of the turnabout set up.
The Broadway Birthday Stamp Set has great fun images that are great for this technique.  You have the balloon, party hat, candle, and ice cream cone.  All of which are easy to stamp by them self but when done in this style it creates a whole new world of creative expression.
Once I had everything stamped I simply trimmed down my image and placed it on a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock that was cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and I glued the entire thing onto my A2 card base.  I then die cut the marquee from whisper white cardstock (this I used to stamp the sentiment) and one from Basic Black Cardstock (for the outside).  For the whisper white one I stamped the Wish image in Daffodil Delight and then used the dotted wish image (which represent the lights from the marquee) in Mango Melody.  Then I finished off the sentiment with the two stamps that read Make A, and it's your birthday in Gorgeous Grape ink.  I popped the whisper white layer up on dimensionals and adhered the basic black outside frame to the card front with a little liquid glue.

I hope that you liked my card today and that you give this technique a try.  Again I will be doing the video and uploading it today, so be on the watch out for that as well.  If you are loving the Broadway Birthday Stamp Set and want to get your hands on it, please do so now.  This set and the matching dies are carrying over to the new 2019 -2020 Annual Catalog but will not be part of a cost saving bundle (like it is in the current 2018-2019 Annual Catalog).  So I would suggest ordering it now to save that extra 10% off both products.  Thanks for dropping by.

Broadway Birthday Colorful Birthday Card for PCC338

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you another card using the Broadway Birthday Stamp Set and Broadway Lights framelits.   Which right now are still part of a cost saving bundle; when the 2019 Annual Catalog goes lives this bundle will be gone, even through the products are staying.  Today's card is a little different than Monday's card.  This card features a fun color combination and focuses on the stamp set more then the Wish die in the die set.  Here's a look at today's card.

And here's a look at the card sketch that inspired my design.  You can click the sketch image and see what the other design team members came up with.

Tips & Tricks:

When I started out designing this card for this sketch I knew which stamp set I wanted to use but I wasn't sure on the colors.  But, it didn't take long to figure that out.  I wanted a fun color combo that could work for both males and females.  I ended up using Smoky Slate, Rococo Rose, and Balmy Blue.  Rococo Rose is one of the new 2019-2021 In Colors that will come out on June 4th with the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  It's a rich mauve red that compliments most other colors, and can stand alone or be paired with another color to be very subtle.  So that makes it very versatile.
Once I knew my colors it was time to start the fun stuff, stamping!  I picked the party hat to focus on as the main image for my card.  Don't under estimate the smaller stamps in your sets, they can be very fun to work with and are limitless in possibilities.  You can do so much with these little stamps.  I stamped out the hat in all three of my colors around a piece of whisper white cardstock and then used the stitched shapes (the largest square) and cut it out.  I then stamped the hooray on a piece of whisper white that was 5 1/4 x 4.  Before adding the hooray in a diagonal pattern I stamped off once to create a lighter shade of the Rococo Rose ink.  This allows for more versatility with your ink pads.
I then took a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and used the third stitched square in the Stitched Shapes Dies and cut it out.  Next I ran it trough the die cutting machine with the swirls and curls embossing folder a returning embossing folder from the Holiday Catalog.  I forgot to mention before I added both squares I used a strip of Balmy Blue card stock and ran it through with the edge die with the little diamonds through my die cutting machine and made it into a banner.  This was added over the stamped hooray, before adding the stamped party hat piece.  After that I saved the little diamonds that came from the the banner and started adding the stitched and embossed squares I created.  I stamped two more party hats on scrap cardstock in Rococo Rose and Smoky Slate and used the matching die to cut them out.  I added them to the card with a mini dimensional to match the height of the balmy blue square that was also popped up with dimensionals. I then added the little diamonds back to the card front and stamped another sentiment at the bottom of the party hats.  This sentiment was in stamped in smoky slate to help bring it out a little more than the second generation Rococo Rose Hooray.
To finish off my card I added the card front to a 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 piece of Rococo Rose Cardstock.  This acted as a mat for my card front and helped to bring out the Rococo Rose ink on the card.  You could totally change this layer to Balmy Blue if you were sending this to a male.  I then added it to a Smoky Slate card base that was cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 (scored at 4 1/4) to make a side folding card.  I stamped a few of the party hats on a piece of whisper white in all three colors and added that to the inside of the card.
So that's my super easy, quick, and colorful Broadway Birthday card for today.  I hope that you like it and that you will take time to play along with this sketch.  This sketch is a two week challenge so you have plenty of time to play along.  If you want to get the Broadway Birthday Stamp set and matching dies now and save 10% I would, before the cost saving bundle is gone.  You can pick these up in my online store by clicking on the shop tab above or by clicking on the item in the shopping list below.
