Spread Your Wings and Fly - Little Ladybug

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a card using a very special stamp set.  I am going to share with you a card that I made with the Saleabration Host/Hostess Stamp Set called Little Ladybug.  These cute little ladybugs are eager to help you spread some love with fun handmade cards for birthdays, thank you, thinking of you, encouragement, and more!  This adorable stamp set can only be earned during Saleabration with a qualifying order, party, or workshop.  I will tell you more on that in a little while.  I based my card today on a card that's in the Saleabration brochure.  Here's a look at my card.

Tips & Tricks:

I started my card by making my own designer series paper using my Old Olive Stampin' Blends and a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Once I had the pattern I wanted; I just simply cut it into the size strips I needed.   After that I started working on stamping the flowers and the ladybug.

I stamped the ladybug and the two flowers in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  This allowed me to color each of them with my Stampin' Blends.  I did really simple coloring on both.  For the flowers I just colored the centers (Mango Melody) and the stems and leaves were done in Old Olive.  And, for the lady bug I colored the wings (Poppy Parade), and a little coloring on the body (Petal Pink).  I even colored in the dots on the wings because they are not stamped all the way with the image.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark ink and sprinkled with White Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat set onto a piece of Poppy Parade Cardstock that was made into a banner.

Rare Blessings One Layer Card PCC353 By Rick Adkins

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share a really pretty and easy one layer card with you today.  I wanted the orchid image in the Rare Blessings Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! to be the main focus on my card today.  I didn't want a lot of embellishments, or layers so a one layer card was the way to go.  Here's a look at my card.
The Rare Blessings Stamp Set features a wonderfully detailed orchid just for you to give to a friend. The Rare Blessings Stamp Set also comes with great sentiments in a beautiful font.  I think the orchid is what I noticed first when I was thumbing through the catalog back in April and was like omg I have to have that set.  Then I look at the sentiments and it was a must have after reading what was in the set and seeing the fonts.
I used a little ink blending in the background of the card to enhance the coloring of the orchid.  But, before I laid down the Crushed Curry ink blend; I had to stamp the orchid and mask it.  I create my mask with a little Avery Removable Label and cut it out.  For the colors of the orchid I used my Stampin' Blends.  There's really not a lot of real estate to color with this image, but I still got four different colors on each section.  For the leaves I used Old Olive and Mossy Meadow.  For the orchid's blooms I used Purple Posy and Highland Heather.  For the flower centers I used Daffodil Delight.  I did use the light and dark of all these markers on the flowers and leaves.  Even with out a lot of area to color I still could get in there and add some nice shading.

When I got the orchid colored it was standing out from the background enough.  The reason for that was the ink blending in the background was so soft compared to the coloring with the blends.  So I came back in with the Daffodil Delight blends and the color lifter and added some color around the the orchid.  I wanted it to kind of look like a glowing shadow around the image.  I think it made the image pop more.  What do you think?

To decorate the envelope for this card; I simply stamped the orchid in tuxedo black ink on the front.  This gave me a nice backdrop for the front of the envelope and I still have plenty of room to write my recipients address.   To decorate the flap of the envelope I just stamped the orchid blooms around in a pattern, as you all know I like to do if you follow my blog.
I hope that you have enjoyed my little one layer card today.  Thank you for stopping by and spending a few minutes of  your day with me.  I will be back again tomorrow with a video tutorial so I will see you tomorrow.

Daisy Lane It's Time to Shine

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to be sharing with you a card that uses a new stamp set from the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog (which goes live on June 4th at 12 pm MT Time).  This is also the stamp set that I picked to use for my Online Class this month.  I am using the New Daisy Lane Stamp Set.  This is a fun set and coordinates with the Daisy Delight Stamp Set that's in the current catalog as well as the large daisy punch.  When this set goes live it will also have a new matching punch (Medium Daisy Punch) as part of a cost saving bundle.  Here's a look at my card.

Daisy Lane Stamp Set, Rick Adkins, Stampin' Up!, Flirty Flamingo Cardstock, Daffodil Delight Cardstock, Blackberry Bliss Cardstock
I picked the colors for my card today from the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper.  This pack of designer series paper is very artistic and the designer actually studied Monet Paintings and then hand painted the designs where they where photographed and then turned into this lovely paper you see today.  Just a little fun fact for you.  Any way back to the card.  I stamped the large Daisy (twice) from the set and used my large daisy punch to cut that out.  I added the designer series paper to a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock cut at 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and then attached that to the card base.  Oh I forgot to mention my sentiment was stamped directly on the lovely designer series paper in Blackberry Bliss ink.  I thought it was such a wonderful mix of sentiments for a friend to get in the mail. I added some punch out sprigs (using the sprig punch returning to the new catalog) in Daffodil Delight & Blackberry Bliss.  I popped the daisy up on a stampin' dimensional and that was pretty much my card.  The card base is a piece of Flirty Flamingo cut to portrait size (in the us that's 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2).
I love that this stamp set coordinates with both stamp sets and punches we already have in the catalog.  That makes it not only do double duty but it gives us way more options to pick from without a lot of extra cost.  This set is my Featured product this week so you will be seeing a lot more examples of this stamp set.  Plus if you sign up for my Daisy Lane Online Class you will have seven more card ideas to go along with the ones I share this week.  Deadline to sign up for the class is the 4th.
To tie in the envelope I used a strip of the matching paper and attached it to the front.  I still have room to write the address and the post office still has room to run it through their post machine without interference.  Which is good.  I love to make the envelope coordinate when I can by either adding a little of the matching designer series paper or by stamping.  You shouldn't be sending a naked envelope use those scrips of dsp you have that matches your card.  I also used a strip on the inside of the card as well to help tie it to the front.

That's all for me this morning I have another post for you this afternoon so make sure you watch for that.  Remember to add the Daisy Lane Stamp Set onto your wish list, you are going to love it.  The new Annual Catalog goes lives tomorrow!  Wow it's been such a long awaited time.  I also wanted to mention I have kicked off my three month Sizzlin' Summer promotion so you can check out those details here and earn a chance to win a prize from the Holiday Catalog in September.
Thanks for dropping by I planning to get back to the normal schedule soon.
