Creative Stampers October Blog Hop - Coming Home

Hello and welcome to this months Creative Stampers Blog Hop.  This month we are featuring the Trimming the Town Suite in from the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog.  This is a cute little suite and when you  purchase of the Coming Home Stamp Set or the Coming Home Bundle Stampin' Up! is donating a portion of the sales to charity.  Here's a look at my alternative card for my October 2020 Creative Stampers Tutorial Project.

I created a card today using the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper (which by the way is currently part of the October Designer Series Paper Sale going on now!  Click here for details.) I wanted to showcase just how easy this designer series paper is to create cards with.  So, my card has no stamping whatsoever.  I know right! Everything that you see on my card today came from the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper except I did use a few of the Trimming the Town embellishments.

I started out by cutting my card base (Thick Whisper White) to 4 1/4" x 11" and scored it at 5 1/2".  I folded it in half and then cut two mats from Misty Moonlight Cardstock.  One 4" x 5 1/4" and one that was 3 1/4" x 4 1/4".  I cut the designer series paper to 3 3/4" x 5" and 3" x 4".  My little sentiment strips come from the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper also I just found the sentiment strips that I wanted from one of the sheets and cut them out and attached them to the card front.

I can see how some people may be intimidated by this pack of DSP and may not think to use it.  But it actually is quite versatile.  You have a couple sheets that you can create scene cards with, and some that are just patterns.  I used both on my card today.  When I started cutting my paper this image with the church just spoke to me.  So, I wanted to showcase it on my card today.  Each month the Creative Stampers Tutorial Bundle Group creates a set of tutorials around a suite of products, stamp set, Bundle or theme that we give away to our customers that make any size purchase each month.  We also sale the tutorial bundle for $22.00 US to anyone that would like to purchase it.

Shopping list below that if you need any of the products you have seen today.  I highly suggest you grab a pack or two of this designer series paper while it's on sale and other products from the Trimming the Town Suite.   The Trimming the Town Suite captures the feel of a Hometown Christmas with it's whimsical imagery and coordinating trimmings. Customize a scene; it's easy to make each one unique. Here's a sneak peek of my project in this month's tutorial bundle, I can not show you the actual project but I can give you a little peek at what I created.

August Blogging Friends Blog Hop - Back to School Bash

Hello and welcome to my blog and the August Blogging Friends Blog Hop.  This month our theme was Back To School Bash, and the Blogging Friends have came up with some wonderful projects for you.  I created a card using the Harvest Hello Stamp Set with this month's theme.  It took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to do with the theme I kept coming back to what does this mean to mean and back to school so I thought of Apples everytime.  Meaning because you used to see in the movies kids would always take apples to their teachers on the first day of school and I remember in elementary school apples being a big theme each year when we would go back.  So, I created this little clean and simple card using apples.  Here's a look at my card.

Tips & Tricks:

I started my card by stamping the background apple slices.  I stamped one first and then created masks with post it notes so that I could have them look as if they were in front of and behind each other.  After I would stamp one I would use the post it notes that I cut out and place over that image and stamp the next.  I repeated this process until I had a row going across my 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Thick Whisper White.  Once I had everything stamped I removed my masks and started coloring each slice.

After I had the row stamped I stamped the whole apple in Tuxedo Black ink on a scrap of Thick Whisper White Cardstock and used the matching Apple Builder Punch and punched out the pieces and put them together with a Mini Glue Dot.  I colored the apple slices with a combination of Stampin' Blends colors to get different color apples.  I wanted to have a variety of different apple types represented on my card.  I know that not everyone likes the same type of apples so I wanted to have one for everyone's tastes.  Once I had the color of the rows done I added a shadow underneath them with the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends and the Color Lifter.  The seeds and stem where all colored with my Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Blends.

To finish off my card I added the whole apple in the very front of the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I then took a strip of Basic Black Cardstock and stamped my greeting in Versamark Ink and used White Stampin' Emboss Powder on it and then heat set it with a nice and hot heat tool which I let preheat a little.  I then placed it on the front of the card front with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  I did have to trim them just a little to make them fit.  Next I added a few of the red and pink sequins from the Sequins For Everything pack with a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue and my Take Your Pick Tool.

Project Recipe:

I have created a little graphic for you to Pin to your Pinterest Board with some of the main items I used to create my card today to help you remember what was used if you wanted to recreate it.  If you would like to see all my Project Recipes you can click here to visit my Project Recipe Board.
