Rick's July Thank You Cards Featuring the Beautiful Friendship Stamp Set

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you my July Thank You Cards.  For this month's cards I picked the Beautiful Friendship Stamp Set which is also the stamp set I picked for this years Summer Retreat to go.  You can read more about that here.  I thought this was the perfect Summer Stamp Set with all the lovely flowers just begging to be stamped.  Here's a look at my cards.

The Beautiful Friendship Stamp Set is a DistINKtive Stamp Set that was laser etched to create different tones and values on your projects without having to use multiple stamps or ink colors.  This set was designed to give the look of watercolor without paint brush or water.  Super cool right.  Here's a look at the stamp set and you can see why I feel in love with it when I saw it in the catalog.
You may want to have a Piercing Mat just in case.  When I first used this set I needed one but once I got my stamps seasoned I didn't have to use it as you will see in the video.  Just a little tip for you if you are in a pinch you can use a full sheet of dimensionals as that little extra cushion.  I did it a couple weeks ago while working on a presentation I did for Stampin' Up! at a Mini Demonstrator Retreat.

I switched up the color combinations for all my cards this month, but basically kept the design the same.  There maybe a few variations but it's hand made not hallmark after all.   For this card and the one I shared in the video I used Blueberry Bushel, Calypso Coral, and Call Me Clover.   You can see in the image above all the different tones and values created from this type of stamp.  And the best part is it was only one stamp and I didn't have to layer multiple stamps to get that look.  Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Rick's June 2019 Thank You Cards featuring the New Wonders Stamp Set

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you my June 2019 Thank You cards that I have sent out to anyone that placed an order with me this month.  My Thank You Cards this month featured the New Wonders Host stamp set and the new 2019-2021 In Colors.  I created a card using each of the new In Colors so I created five different cards using the same design but just changed up the colors.  So every time a customer placed an order they were sent one of my thank you cards.  Some customers even got all five cards this month.  Here's a look at my June Thank You Cards.
Each card features the same stamped image but I changed up the colors and the designer series paper that I used.  I used the 2019-2021 In Color Designer Series Paper Pack which has 40 sheets inside (4 each of 2 double sided designs).  I used all five of the new in colors on my cards; so I used Purple Posy, Seaside Spray (Front row Left to right), Rococo Rose, and Pretty Peacock (2nd row left to right) and Terracotta Tile (top row).  All of these colors are very pretty and just make me smile.  I may have one that I originally liked more than the other but I have really came to love them all.  Sometimes with In Colors it takes a little while to fall in love with them.  This happens to me almost every year.  But, this year it didn't take as long.

Here's a closer look at the New Wonders Hostess/Host Stamp Set.  It features this cute little fairy that is just adorable.  This host stamp set is only available with Stampin’ Rewards.  "This fairy visited us, and our designers just fell in love with her. So they decided to dedicate a stamp set to her.  Here she is, in the New Wonders Stamp Set!"  this was the description on the website and it just makes this stamp set so much more adorable to me.  You can see in the above image that there are three different poses or actions for this little cutie.  I love the one where she's turning the page and you see leaves, holding the pen, okay I love them all.  It features sentiments for all kinds of occasions, and the fonts are to die for.  They had me with the cute little fairy and the font, I really didn't even look at what the sentiments said after I saw how fabulous those two features were.  Yep, that's one way to get me a cute image and a wonderful looking font.

So are you wondering how I made them; well I have a quick video showing you how I did it along with my coloring and a few tips along the way.

Tips & Tricks:

So once I knew which stamp set I wanted to use and believe me that was no easy task with this years Stamps from the Annual catalog.  This has been one of the best catalogs since I've started.  There are a ton of great products inside those two little covers.
I knew I wanted to use the 2019-2021 In colors, so I picked the designer series paper that featured them the most, but didn't have designs that were to busy or didn't wouldn't fit with any stamp set.  So then I laid out a few of my choices and went from there.  When I pulled the New Wonders stamp set and saw the sentiments along with the font and the little images I knew.  I just thought that the little fairy holding the pen was perfect for a thank you note.  For the video I shared how I made the Pretty Peacock version but all of them are made the exact same way.  I just changed up the coloring a little.  I used all the same colors but would change the dress to match the designer series paper and ink.
I started out with a 3 3/4 x 5 piece of Whisper White Cardstock and stamped the little fairy in Tuxedo Black ink.  I picked this ink because I knew I was going to do a little Stampin' Blend coloring.  As long as you use the smaller nib to color this image you are fine.  Just don't use the brush end it's way to large to get into the smaller areas of the stamped image.  For the Terracotta Tile coloring I used my Stampin' Write marker to do that; but you could totally use dark Calypso Coral because they are so close.  That's one of the reasons they didn't make a Stampin' Blend in Terracotta Tile, because they are so close in hue.  Here's a little image you can pin to your Pinterest account to remember what colors I used.
This was such a fun stamp set to color and I did color a lot of them.  I figured out that if you color one item that's the same color all at one time it goes so much faster.  For example everything that had to be colored with the Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends I colored all of those on each card in a row, then moved on to the next color.  And, this made my coloring time so much less than coloring each card all at once.  So remember when you have a lot of coloring for mass produced cards assembly line it.  Do all of the same coloring at one time then move to the next color and do the same thing and just keep repeating the process.  Again this saved so much time.

Here's a closer look at all the cards.
