Rick’s Saturday Simple Stamping Episode 32: A Simple Christmas Card Using the Holiday Catalogs Host Sets

Hello and welcome to my YouTube Channel and Blog: Today I am going to share with you the next Episode of Saturday Simple Stamping.  In this Episode  I am going to share with you a super quick and easy Christmas Card using the two new Host Stamp Sets from the 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  The stamp sets I am using are Holiday Haul and Greatest Part of Christmas.  Both of these again are host sets and must be earned with a qualifying order.  You will find a full list of the supplies I used in today's Simple Stamping Episode below.  Here's a look at my cards.

In each Episode of Saturday Simple Stamping I share with you a super easy card geared towards beginners.  These are easy recreatable cards using stamps ink and paper.  Every once in awhile I may throw in a designer series paper, punch, or other embellishment, but meanly I keep it to the basics just stamps ink and paper.  If you are a brand new crafter or stamper looking at getting into card making this is the series for you.  I have currently 32ish videos or episodes you can find here by searching simple stamping or #simplestamping in the search feature on my site.

This week I am featuring the two Holiday Catalog Host Stamp Sets Holiday Haul and Greatest Part of Christmas.  Each of these sets can only be earned with Stampin' Rewards.  Those are points earned for purchasing products in my online store read more about Stampin' Rewards.

The Holiday Haul Stamp Set allows you to combine the images to build a scene for any occasion.  I put my images on a slight slant for this card to have a little more visual interest without having to do a log of work.  I chose to use a different color ink for each image.  I wanted them to each have equal value and visual weight on the card.  So by having each in a different color it allowed me to let the images guide the viewer.  You will also notice that you see the same colors repeated at least three times on the card.  This is a visual element that helps to tie everything together and keeps the viewers eyes moving around the card and not leave the visual plane.  Now that I have gotten all technical with you lets just talk like real people shall we.  You can pair with your favorite greeting stamp set for even more versatility I paired it today with the Greatest Thing About Christmas stamp set.  The greatest part of Christmas is spreading cheer to everyone! No matter what sentiment you want to express for the season, you'll find it with the Greatest Part of Christmas Stamp Set. Pair with any image set for unlimited possibilities.

This is the first version of the card I created for today's episode.  I used a ruler and lightly drew off the lines with a pencil so that I would have a guide to keep my images straight and aligned.  I used a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11 for my card base and added the whisper white to the front of the card.  The Whisper white piece was cut at 4 x 5 1/4 a 1/4" smaller than the card base this allows for a nice equal border around the focal image.  I added the strip of the Wrapped in Plaid Speciality Designer Series Paper to add a little more visual interest with the fun plaid pattern in Shaded Spruce, Whisper White, and Gold foil accents.
I did the same thing with the card above but I didn't draw off the lines to follow.  I thought that I would be able to stamp the images freehand in a straight line.  And I was wrong!  If you look at the card above again you will notice some of the images go up slightly or down slightly from the visual straight line that I have on the original version.  But, that's okay I mean it's handmade after all and not Hallmark.  One of the fun things about creating a handmade card is the fact that you made it with love and it may have impressions and that's okay.  It doesn't matter that it's not perfect.  Yes, I know there are some of you out there that thinks otherwise but the small things like it being off slightly really doesn't bother me.  For me it's more about how the person feels when they get the card I've made, not if it's perfect or not.
I also stamped my envelope with the same images in a line going across the flap.  I almost only stamped the reindeer and the slay but decided it needed the other two images to match and to more visually appealing.  I think you should always dress your envelopes with something before you send them.  It helps to give the person receiving the card a little hint of what my be on the inside.  And with our Stampin' Up! products it helps add coordination to it as well, since all our inks, and papers all color coordinates perfectly.  That's one of the things that drew me to Stampin' Up! and becoming a demonstrator myself.  I hated searching for things at the big box stores that I thought my match only to get home to find out they were close but no cigar!

Rick's Saturday Simple Stamping Episode 25 Featuring the Beautiful Friendship Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you the next Episode of Rick's Saturday Simple Stamping.  For this weeks card I used one of my favorite stamp sets, and the stamp set that I will be featuring in my Summer Retreat this year, Beautiful Friendship.  This is a great floral stamp set that has a watercolor look without all the work.  Which was one of the reasons I picked it for this week's Simple Stamping episode.   Here's a look at this weeks #simplestamping card.

This is one of those stamp sets that you can do so much with if you just think outside the box a little.  Not that you may want to considering what beautiful floral bouquets you can create.  This card literally took me just a few minutes to create.  The longest part was picking out what images and colors to use.  That's really how easy this card was.  I actually did this card last Saturday while I was at a Alabama Mini Retreat with Stampin' Up!.  I had just gotten mine in and hadn't had time to play with it because I was presenting at the Mini Retreat and had to finish getting my presentation ready, while waiting on the electrician to come and fix our power from the outside of the house to the inside.  Long story, I will fill you in on that during a upcoming Facebook Live.

I used three ink pads for today's card.  I used Lovely Lipstick, Call Me Clover, and Balmy Blue.  I started out by stamping the Hydrangea in Balmy Blue Classic ink and then stamped the roses in Lovely Lipstick and nestled them up right next to the Hydrangea.  I finished off by adding in a few leaves and the sentiment in Call me Clover.  My card base is a sheet of Whisper White Cardstock that was cut in half (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored and folded at 4 1/4).  If you are just starting out I always suggest getting either a pack of Whisper White Cardstock and a pack of Medium White Envelopes or a pack of the Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes.  With either of these two options you are covered to create super cute cards.  As you progress in your stamping journey you can add more supplies.  But really and truly these few items and maybe a roll of white ribbon will get you through for awhile, before you decide you need to add other items to your shopping cart.

Friendships are some of the most precious things we have in our lives.  Show your cards made with this stamp set to your friends, and I promise you they will love them too.  You can even get your friends to help you create heartfelt projects using the Beautiful Friendship Stamp Set.  This is one of our DistINKtive stamp sets.  Which means it was laser etched to give different tones and values with just one stamp, no need to layer multiple images to get the multilayered look.  It's all done with just one stamp.

Rick's Saturday Simple Stamping Episode 23: Featuring the Dino Days Stamp Set

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you another #simplestamping card.  Today's card features the dinoriffic stamp set Dino Days new in the 2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  This is a super fun set featuring some very cute dinosaurs.  As I mentioned in another post I totally think this set can be used for anyone not just kids.

If you are new to stamping these tutorials and videos are designed just for you.  They are designed to teach new crafters how to create wonderful cards only using Stamps, Ink, and Paper!   These are super simple but fun and cute cards that you can easily recreate without problems.  I design a new card for my beginning stampers each week.  I remember how it felt when I first started stamping and how scary it can be to share your cards with others.  So I am here to help you not to feel that way.  And one way I can do that is to share with you a Simple Stamped card that you can recreate and to help guide you in that you don't have to have all the fun stuff just yet.  All that comes as you progress.  Here's a look at today's simple stamping card.

See I told you super cute cards but easy to reproduce for the new stamper in mind.  I started off with just a piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock.  A standard size piece of cardstock in the US is 8 1/2 x 11.  You can get two cards from one sheet.  You will want to score it down the middle:  I did a portrait style card today so we will turn it on the long side and score it at 5 1/2.  Turn it back around on the short side and cut down the middle at 4 1/4.  Now you how two card bases cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2.  Now all we have to do is stamp.
If you are viewing this post via email you will need to click on the image below to view the video.  Some email servers will not show the embedded video.

Simple Stamping:

Now since we have the paper cut it's time to pull out the ink.  I used Pretty Peacock, Lovely Lipstick, Mango Melody, Old Olive, Pineapple Punch, and Pool Party.  In the image above you will see the addition of Pool Party little images that I didn't show in the video.  I used two of the small images to fill up some of the white space on the card.  You can see them and copy them from the pictures below.
Pick a dinosaur and a ink color and stamp one dinosaur in each color, around the card.  I started with the largest one first and then filled in the rest.
Once you have both cards stamped add your sentiment and then use the smaller stamps in pool party to fill in the white space a little.  For the card above I used the Palm branch to fill in areas.
For this one I used the same colors but used the foot prints to fill in some of the white space.

Here's another look at both cards so that you can see them side by side without having to scroll back up.  Thanks for dropping by today, I hope that you will give this simple stamped card a try.  You will find all the supplies used in the Stampin' Up! Shopping List below.
Happy Stampin'
