Golden Summer ATC Cards

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share something a little different that you have not seen on my blog before.  I spent a little time over the weekend creating some little gifts for people that signed up for my Sow Creativity Online Class last month.  I sat down and had a play with some of the products that I had in my stash and created some fun Artist Trading Cards using the Hydrangea Haven Bundle.  Here's a look at the ACTs:

You can find out more about how I made them below.

What are ATCs:

ATCs are Artist Trading Cards; they started a few years ago by artists as a way to share their artwork with other artists and their contact information.  Think of them as business cards for artists but they are also pieces of art work as well.   Which if you ask me is a much more fun way to get someone's contact information or business card than your standard every day run of the mill business card.  Don't you think?

I had heard of ATCs a long time ago but never gave it any thought to making any until last week.  I wanted to do something fun for my class attendees; especially since I have kicked off my Fun Summer Stamping promotion on June 1st.  I thought that this would be a fun little way to share what I love to do with my class attendees beyond just the online class to go.  This way I could give them a little gift that I could stick in their class kits and maybe just maybe inspire them a little more than what we are creating in the class.  I also thought it would be a good way to use some of the supplies in a different way.

To create this ATC I used a lot of stuff that I had on hand in my stash. As well as some stuff that I had from before I started as a demonstrator.  I had fun creating the textural backgrounds of these ATCs with different stencils from Stampin' Up! some current and some that had retired that I kept.  I layered them up with layers of Embossing Paste, some through the stencils and some that I took a pallet knife and smoothed out to add more texture.  That may have happened because I may or may not have stuck my hand in the some of the wet Embossing Paste before it dried:  But I will never tell you for sure if that's why or not.

I added some gold gilding wax that I had in my stash to some of the ACTs to add a little gold element here and there.  Plus I wanted to see what it would do over the dried Embossing Paste.  I was quite surprised by how it came out.  But I really like it, don't you?  I also came in with some Soft Suede and Early Espresso Ink along the edges and a Sponge Dauber and inked up the edges for even more texture.

So, once I had everything cut and glued down to the front of the ATCs it was time to mount them.  I mounted them to a piece of 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" Gorgeous Grape Cardstock. Which by the way is the standard size for an ATC.  My original panels I had cut down slightly smaller because I knew that I wanted to mount them onto another piece of cardstock to make them more sturdy.  To add my contact information on the back along with the title, date, and edition run.  I went to Avery Label website and found a business card template and added the information and the logo I wanted to use on the back of them.  I then just printed them off on my home printer onto a piece of Basic White Cardstock.  Once I had them printed and filled out I simply cut them apart on my Paper Trimmer and added them to the back of each ATC.  Again this also survived another purpose as well.  It helped to make the ATCs a lot more sturdy too.

I hope that my Sow Creativity Class attendees love them and enjoy them as much as I did making them for them.  Do you think that they will like them?  Leave me a comment below letting me know what you think.   Thanks for dropping by today, I hope that you have a wonderful day.  If you take one of my online to go classes this summer you may get a little ATC card in your class kit from me as well.   If you need any of the supplies that you have seen today you can pick them up in my online store.
