Happy Christmas = Yuletide Pasture

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I have a fun little Christmas card for you that is a little on the unexpected side of holiday cards.   I used a fun stamp set called Yuletide Pasture from the Stampin' Up! August-December Mini Catalog to create my card with today.   This fun little nontraditional stamp set features three fun yuletide animal images and some wonderful sentiments.  My card today is also for the Spot Color Challenge this week.

Create Christmas cards and other paper crafts with the Yuletide Pasture Stamp Set. The set includes Christmas greetings and cute pasture animals, decorated and ready to celebrate Christmas!  The cat with his little scarf in the stamp set is just the cutest and makes me giggle; which is one of the reasons I picked it to use on my card today.

As I mentioned above my project today is part of the color challenge over at The Spot Challenge Blog.  Each week we have a different creative challenge for you to play along with.  You can join this week's challenge by clicking here or just pop over and check out all the great projects using this color challenge  Below you will find this weeks challenge inspiration image.  .

When I make a card I work by picking out the stamp set I want to create with then I work from the back up to the front of the card.  I may not know which image from the stamp set I am going to use at the time that I start.  Since I knew my color scheme I pulled out the inks, cardstock, and a few additional supplies.  I love to use a Whisper White Card base so with color challenges 99.9% of the time this is the cardstock I pull as my base and I build around that with the other elements.

I have a secret...

In the new January-June Mini Catalog we are getting our very own blending brushes.  So, since I attended OnStage (a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Only Event) I got to purchase them two months early.  If you follow me you know that I love my blending brushes and have begged for us to get our own.  So, I had to use them on my card today and try them out.  And let me just tell you I was not disappointed in them.  I created the background image for my card today using them.

I was able to create a ink blended background in a few minutes and the best part no hand pain at all!  I used Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow Ink with my Blending Brushes to create the ombre ink blended background you see on my card today.  The Blending Brushes will be available starting in January 2021.

After I had the background created I flicked on some water from my Water Painters and used a paper towel to suck up the extra to create the little speckles you see below.

After I had my background created I cut it down a little and placed it onto a Real Red mat layer.  I then placed some of the Real Red Braided Linen Trim around this layer and tied it into a bow.  I then placed this on my card base.  I used a Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card base.  I went with the Liquid Glue because it gives strong adhesion once dried and it lets me move the card front around a little to get it into the perfect position before it dried.

Next I stamped my little cat from the Yuletide Pasture Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Ink and colored him with my Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Blends.  I just did simple coloring since the image is a little smaller.  I then used my  Real Red and Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends to add strips to his scarf.

After I had the coloring completed I stamped the sentiment Happy Christmas in Real Red Ink below the cat. And, added this to a Mossy Meadow mat.  I popped this layer up over the braided trim with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To finish off my card I added a few of the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels around the card to add a little more real red to the card.  That finishes my card thanks for dropping by today!  If you need any of the supplies you have seen today you can pick them up in my online store.  Remember that the Blending Brushes will not be orderable until January 2021.  They may be part of the January-June Mini Catalog Preorder in December which is only available to demonstrators.  So if you want to get your hands on the new products a month before everyone else now is a great time to take advantage of the Ultimate Deal aka the Starter Kit.
