Creative Stampers November Blog Hop - Christmas/Holiday

Christmas and the Holiday Season is upon us, after along hard day here in the States having an election yesterday, and everything going on in the World we can still enjoy the Holidays but they just may be a little different this year.  But, with a little planning and help you can still share the joy of the season with some handmade projects.

Each month the Creative Stampers (a group of talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators across the US, Canada, and the UK create a project and tutorial each month that's combined into a tutorial bundle that we share with our customers free with an any size order, our team members as a perk for being on our team and to anyone else that would like to purchase it.  During the blog hop we share a sneak peek of our project from the tutorial bundle as well as more inspiration using the products that we used that month.

This month our theme was Christmas/Holidays.  We picked from three different Holiday Suites from the August-December Mini Catalog to create a project from one of them.  I picked the Poinsettia Place Suite of Products to focus on this time.  Because it's one of my favorites.  Here's a look at my alternative project for this month's Tutorial Bundle.

For my alternative project this month I turned my tutorial project into a card.  Well, sort of any way.  I used my alternative project as inspiration to make this holiday themed thank you card.  Because we all need different types of cards during the holidays not just Holiday Cards.   So, I thought it would be perfect to make a thank you card with.   And, the sentiment came from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set which was great as well.

I started out with a Soft Suede card base cut at 4 1/4" x 11" and scored it at 5 1/2" to make a top folding card.  I then used the Stitched Rectangle dies to cut my Real Red Cardstock and the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper.  I love the stitching detail that the dies give and it just adds that little extra touch without having to do a lot of work.

Next I cut out the holly leaves from some Old Olive Cardstock scraps that I had in my scrap bin.  While running the cardstock through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine I placed the two embossing dies for the Holly Leaves inside the dies also.  This saved me time while working.  Next I stamped the inside of the leaves with the watercolor wash image in the stamp set to add more color and since I embossed before hand it gave the impression of real shadows.

Next I die cut the poinsettia flowers from the die set and used the embossing dies on them as well.  But, instead of Real Red Cardstock for this I used the Red Velvet Paper in the catalog.  And OMG how it changed the look of the poinsettia once it was put all together.
