August Blogging Friends Blog Hop - Back to School Bash

Hello and welcome to my blog and the August Blogging Friends Blog Hop.  This month our theme was Back To School Bash, and the Blogging Friends have came up with some wonderful projects for you.  I created a card using the Harvest Hello Stamp Set with this month's theme.  It took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to do with the theme I kept coming back to what does this mean to mean and back to school so I thought of Apples everytime.  Meaning because you used to see in the movies kids would always take apples to their teachers on the first day of school and I remember in elementary school apples being a big theme each year when we would go back.  So, I created this little clean and simple card using apples.  Here's a look at my card.

Tips & Tricks:

I started my card by stamping the background apple slices.  I stamped one first and then created masks with post it notes so that I could have them look as if they were in front of and behind each other.  After I would stamp one I would use the post it notes that I cut out and place over that image and stamp the next.  I repeated this process until I had a row going across my 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Thick Whisper White.  Once I had everything stamped I removed my masks and started coloring each slice.

After I had the row stamped I stamped the whole apple in Tuxedo Black ink on a scrap of Thick Whisper White Cardstock and used the matching Apple Builder Punch and punched out the pieces and put them together with a Mini Glue Dot.  I colored the apple slices with a combination of Stampin' Blends colors to get different color apples.  I wanted to have a variety of different apple types represented on my card.  I know that not everyone likes the same type of apples so I wanted to have one for everyone's tastes.  Once I had the color of the rows done I added a shadow underneath them with the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends and the Color Lifter.  The seeds and stem where all colored with my Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Blends.

To finish off my card I added the whole apple in the very front of the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I then took a strip of Basic Black Cardstock and stamped my greeting in Versamark Ink and used White Stampin' Emboss Powder on it and then heat set it with a nice and hot heat tool which I let preheat a little.  I then placed it on the front of the card front with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  I did have to trim them just a little to make them fit.  Next I added a few of the red and pink sequins from the Sequins For Everything pack with a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue and my Take Your Pick Tool.
