Stampers Showcase July Blog Hop - Whale of A Time Gift Box

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a super cute little treat box similar to one that I made this past weeked during my Online Stampin' Retreat.  So it was perfect for this month's Stampers Showcase Blog Hop.  I used the Whale Done Bundle as the main focus on my little scalloped top box.  Here's a look at my box.

Tips & Tricks:

This little box is not really hard to do; it's really just a simple box construction and decorated up nice and pretty like.  The base of the box starts out as any box would.  It's just a piece of cardstock cut to 8 1/2 x 6 1/4".  Then it's scored to make the sides and top of the box.  It's scored on the 8 1/2" side at 1", 3 1/2", 4 3/4", & 7 1/4".  On the short side it's scored at 1 1/4" and 5.

The scalloped top and bottom are two of the largest Stitched Scalloped Rectangles from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies cut from Calypso Coral Cardstock.  I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach both.  I found it was easier to use the Liquid Glue to attach them than the Seal+.  The Liquid Glue allows you to move the top and bottom around for a little while so that you can get the placement just right.

After attaching the scalloped rectangles it was time to decorate the box.  So for this version of the box I used Whisper White Cardstock to Mat the Whale of A Time Designer Series Paper.  I then attached the matted layer to the top of the box with a little liquid glue.  I then stamped my sentiment onto a piece of Whisper White and punched it out with my 2" Circle Punch.  Next I punched out a 2 1/4" circle with my 2 1/4" Circle Punch and attached them together.  I popped the circles up on Stampin' Dimensionals.  I then stamped the whale from the Whale Done Stamp Set in Shaded Spruce Classic Ink and punched him out using the matching Whale Builder Punch.  I then attached him to the circle with a few more Stampin' Dimensionals to finish off the box.
